Itinerary:
Illuminated by the night lights, Syntagma square will be your starting point, where you will meet your expert foodie guide and begin your adventure. After an introduction to the rich culinary history of Athens, your guide will lead you to a modern deli that integrates traditional recipes with modern ingredients and techniques. Try a wide selection of ‘meze’ along with a shot of traditional ‘ouzo’, while learning its proper way of consumption; a ritual no Greek overlooks! Descend Athens' streets to the vibrant Agias Irinis Square. There, you will have the opportunity to taste the best souvlaki in town; yes, the cult-classic Greek street food everyone lusts after will finally be yours! Walk to the neighborhood of Thission and visit a cozy, local wine bar, where a professional sommelier will introduce you to the wine production of Greece and help you try 5 different indigenous Greek varieties along with a selection of cheeses that complement each wine. Your last food stop will treat you to an indulgent Greek dessert in a sweet shop located in the hip neighborhood of Psirri; the perfect ending to the tour that will immerse you in the nightlife, gastronomy, and culture of Greece!

The private Athens by Night Food Tour and Wine Tasting was an incredible experience from start to finish. Our guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She took us to a lovely wine bar for a wine tasting with charcuterie. Then we enjoyed street food. Afterward, we went for an enjoyable tour of beautiful potions of the city. We needed some exercise to be able to continue eating! We then had an olive oil experience followed by a delicious dinner at Ella’s (I recommend the Greek salad there). We finished the evening with yummy gelato. I only took a few pictures because we were busy enjoying the evening.

Maria was an excellent host who took us to some wonderful places. This tour was great value and we got to see some real local highlights. By the end of the night we were stuffed and could not fit another thing in, despite multiple attempts. I would suggest that you don't eat lunch before you go on this tour.

Our tour guide was Mel (shortened version of her real name). I can say from the moment she met our group, there was a connection! We met and went for a wine tasting (5) different wines. From there we went for souvlakia which were perfect. She recommended the beef and it was absolutely delicious!! Then on to an olive oil tasting with a local, whose family actually is in the business. So very informative that I won’t even think of not having olive oil daily. Then to dinner at a restaurant named Ella’s. We started with an assorted platter of dips with homemade pita. Then they served the Greek salad with the cherry tomatoes, herbs, feta and olive oil with pieces of pita. WOW! Dinner we chose between a menu of 6-7 items, some vegetarian options. My favorite was the orzo pasta with cheese sauce and lamb. Everyone’s dinner was delicious. Ouzo and another after dinner drink were served. And….as if that wasn’t enough, Mel took us to a delightful gelato place for dessert. I cannot rate this tour high enough for the price paid. Mel was so attentive and answered our 100+ questions about food and culture. If you have the chance…take it!! Thank You Mel….and if you are ever in Almost Heaven West Virginia…look us up! ❤️

The guide was fantastic. Melpo was very informative and entertaining. The wine tasting and pitas were great as well as the olive tasting. The main meal at Ella’s at the end was the most disappointing. The quality of that food did not meet the standards set earlier in the tour.

We did the food and wine evening tour as a family of three with our 12-year-old daughter. Mini our guide met us in the hotel lobby and was extremely friendly and engaging from the get-go. It being our first day in Athens, she not only did the tour but also gave us a great introduction on the city, Greek food, and culture as well as the neighbourhood around our hotel in the city centre. All this while also making sure to keep our daughter engaged with stories and snippets and conversation around their shared interest - Greek Mythology. We had two food stops and an extensive session of wine tasting from various regions of Greece. There was something for everyone including a non-alcoholic wine and other beverages to taste, for our daughter. Restaurant chosen for dinner was right opposite our hotel and was an excellent option to savour food and salads made from quality local produce. 3 hours flew by, and we had an excellent first evening with our friendly guide Mini in her beautiful city of Athens.

We had an amazing Athens food and wine tour with Eugenia. She was a great guide. It was a lovely evening, amazing food, we learned so much, and enjoyed it all. 10/10 would recommend, it was absolutely fantastic.

This was a fantastic upscale food tour and wine tasting — Learning about Greek food and culture from Maia was very enlightening! Maria was an amazing tour guide and the places we visited were all “sit down” rather than standing outside nibbling food! The olive oil tasting was a nice bonus, as well as the gelato!
