Then take in the highlights of ancient Athens at the Acropolis, with a guided tour of the Parthenon, Athena Nike temple and beautiful Porch of the Maidens. Youll also visit the new Acropolis museum to learn more about Athens legendary hilltop ruins.
Mycenae and Epidaurus Day Trip (Day 1 or Day 2 your choice):
Youll need a full day to explore the ancient sites of Mycenae and Epidaurus. Leaving Athens in an air-conditioned coach with your guide, take a scenic drive along the Saronic Gulf coastal road to reach the ancient city of Mycenae, a major center of Greek civilization from 1600 BC to 1100 BC. Once the heart of the legendary kingdom of Agamemnon, the archaeological site here is littered with imposing ruins from the days of Homers Iliad and Odyssey. Youll visit the tomb of Agamemnon, the once-walled palace and the Lionesses Gate.

Our trips were amazing. The weather was great. Our guide Effey was great. Very knowledgeable and great stories as well.

This was a great tour especially seeing sights of Epidaurus, Corinth Canal and Mycenae! The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. The downside was the €13 extra we both paid for the lunch! We dropped the non lunchers in Naplion then drive out of town to a Hotel for a dismal lunch- not worth it at all! We then went back to pick up the rest of the people and we’re very disappointed we only had 10 minutes here! Would have preferred to have lunch in Naplion overlooking the waters with our choice of meals.

This is one of the tours where you do not need a tour guide. The place sells and explains itself plenty of murals and information areas around the Acropolis as does the Acropolis Museum which is a must-see . The place is overcrowded and you do not really get enough spare time to walk around and explore the area. It is better to catch a train to one of the stations nearby and see these majestic places on your own probably cheaper too.

Both tours were very good but with one small reservation. When we booked this offer great emphasis is put on the fact that you decide which trip you want to do first. We chose the Athens half day first as we had been travelling all day to Athens the day before. We also thought the tour of Athens would help us find our own way around the city. However when we phoned to confirm our hotel pick up we were told we had to do the Mycenae trip first for organisational reasons. This is fair enough but why offer the option if it is not going to be honoured? The coaches were comfortable and air conditioned. Both guides were interesting and very knowledgeable. We chose the lunch option and were pleased we had as there is no other place to eat and the food was very good in pleasant surroundings. The theatre at Epidaurus is spectacular and it is interesting to tour the ruins at Mycenae. Of course the Acropolis is a highlight even with the scaffolding.
