Know More about this tour

The tour begins in the mountains directly behind Jac, and continues roughly half the distance to the peak of the mountain to a beautiful 35ft. waterfall (Cascada del Zorro) a perfect spot to get a little wet and take some photos. After the brief stop, we continue up through primary rainforest and above the canopy to the top of the mountain range. Just beyond the crest of the mountain lies a beautiful mirador offering views of the ocean playing against sands as far south as Manuel Antonio, as far west as the Nicoya Peninsula, and as far north as the port city of Puntarenas.
We enjoy a cool drink with the view, and then continue along the ridgeline of the mountains that offer more incredible views of this pristine area. This primary rainforest leads the way towards the mountains that surround Playa Hermosa. After stopping off at one more epic viewpoint, we descend the mountains of La Gloria toward the Tulin River to our river-side lunch spot in the small rural town of Mata de Platano.Once fed, we start a new climb through the similarly small and remote villages of Montelimar, Angostura, Pavona and San Gabriel before passing through Las Delicias (population: 39) famous for its ATV and motocross rallies.
Though its impossible to describe every little pueblo we pass on the tour, suffice it to say that each has its own unique charm, and the locals always greet us with a wave and a smile.Once arriving in Bijagual - the last mountain pueblo we pass - we begin our final descent to a beach-side bar where we gather refreshments for the end of our beach run. A quick 2 kilometer run alongside the Pacific Ocean brings us to a view of the sun making its way for the Nicoya Peninsula on the other side of the Gulf, and chance to have a drink before heading back to Headquarters.

Juan and J. P. were absolutely amazing guides. They took our family on the trip of a lifetime! It was honestly one of the most remarkable days we have spent together. When your children are adults, it's not often that you all get to be together to create special memories. These memories will be talked about for years and years to come. Juan and J. P. made it the trip it was. We can't thank them enough.

This was such an incredible experience!! We had a full day ATV tour with Marco and we already want to sign up to do it again!! If you enjoy ATVs, this tour is a MUST! Riding through the towns, the beautiful jungle views, delicious local beverages, incredible food, and amazing company, it doesn’t get any better than this!!! You will not be disappointed! The waterfall was so refreshing to have during the ride we were grateful. Thank you, Marco!!! Muchas gracias! Mucho gusto! Pura vida!!

Very fun trip. Our guides were very nice and super helpful. By the time we reached our first official break, we were exhausted! We hadn’t even reached the waterfall yet. We all rested and had waters and Gatorade to refuel. We were all experienced riders, and had lots of fun along the way. Lunch was delicious. My one complaint was the tour description clearly states that the last part of the ride was along the beach…that is untrue. No beach riding at all 😕 we were dissatisfied since we chose the longer ATV trip for the beach ride. If we had known that it wasn’t included, we would have opted for the 4 hour tour. We got very dusty and dirty and tired…but still had fun. Just wished they would have included everything in our tour that was described. I did mention it to the girl at the counter, she looked at me like I was crazy. She said they don’t do beach riding at all, and especially no stop at a beach restaurant/bar. No explanation as to why the tour was different. Would have given 5 stars if the tour description was accurate.

Our guide was the best!!! Very patient, helpful, pleasant, obviously love his job and full of smiles. The views were beautiful and the ride was extremely fun yet scary at times. Lunch was way better than we thought it would be and it was delicious. Be sure to wear clothes that you don't care to ruin as you may not be able to wash out the red dirt.

10/10 experience! What a day! Our guide Jesse was super friendly and the company itself was great to deal with. The tour is exactly as advertised. Waterfall, lunch and even a few stops along the way for some authentic Costa Rican moonshine! This was the perfect way to see the countryside of Jaco and many small towns you normally wouldn't pass through. This is a great way to spend a full day and experience all of Jaco!

Alright it’s about time I’ve left a review for Adventure Tours CR…. Listen…I’ve done the ATV tours with ATCR at least 20 times over the years. EVERY time they go above and beyond to deliver an incredible experience. I have done the 3-hour, 4-hour and Full-Day “El Rey” tour multiple times each. If you have never done an ATV tour, do the 4-hour with lunch. It’s a more standard route beginning with training, and a straight away so you can learn the vehicle. More importantly, on the straight away the guide will gauge your ability. Then you will hit the rainforest and have an incredible experience for the next 4 hours, feeling like a local as you pass by locals on their dirt bikes, grab lunch in a soda cantina, and jump in a waterfall in the middle of a rainforest. You will not feel like a tourist here, that I can assure you. Pro Tip: Pack an Imperial in your bag for each person in your crew and crack it open when you hit the waterfall. And yes, some of us bring more than one haha. If you have been on an ATV tour before and feel comfortable driving, just skip the other tours and go straight for the “El Rey”. It’s always a private tour, so they will customize it to what YOU want to do. Don’t want to do the rainforest in the rain? No problem, do the beach from Tarcoles to Jaco. Do you love being muddy and then jumping in a waterfall to wash off? Fine, let your guide know up front, and you will spend all day in the rainforest. It is catered to what YOU want. The last thing I am going to touch on are the guides. I know every guide either by name or face…they ALL love the job, love Costa Rica, and genuinely want to show you their country and make this an experience you will never forget. Special shout-out to Kevin and Alex, who somehow ALWAYS figure out a way to make it a new experience for me. You guys rock!!! Don’t bother looking anywhere else for an ATV tour in Jaco. These guys are pros, they know how to cater the tour to your desires/ability, and how to keep you safe. 5/5 stars for Adventure Tours Costa Rica!

Trip was worth every penny $$. If you love ATV and the jungle scenery then take this trip. My guide, Alex, was outstanding.

My husband and I treated out 22-year old and 19-year old sons to the full day ATV experience. Following our guide, Alex, we started off in Jaco and drove towards Playa Hermosa. From there, we traversed mountain trails and rivers, bathed in a waterfall, made pit stops at two different local bars for refreshments, and were treated to delicious lunch at a restaurant in a mountain village. To say the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful is an understatement. At every stop, my husband and sons would get off their ATVs grinning ear to ear. When the day came to an end, all three said the ATV day trip was the best excursion they have ever done. They had an absolute blast, One of their favorite days ever! Hours later, we are still talking about the day. In fact, my husband is currently looking at pictures and commenting that the experience was “f-word amazing!” Alex our guide was fantastic! He kept us safe but also kept things fast paced and exciting for my adrenaline junkies! Alex spoke great English but also spoke to us in Spanish; encouraging us to practice the language and converse with him and other Costa Ricans we met along our route. Alex stopped to show us a Tuscan he spotted in a tree along the road and to point out various trees and scenic views. He made sure that we got a lot of pictures to capture our incredible experience. If you are so fortunate to secure Alex as your guide, consider yourself lucky! A bit of advice, wear sunglasses, at minimum. Wear long shorts, jeans, or capri tights. I recommend packing a small towel that you can use to dry your feet after the waterfall and to wipe off your glasses at each stop. I would also bring one bottle of water to tied you over between pit stops. You will get very dirty so dress accordingly!
