Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in central Aix-en-Provence and head by minibus to Les Baux de Provence. Perched atop of a craggy rock overlooking the countryside, this medieval village boasts views that have graced a thousand postcards, and is home to some impressive history, as well. Hear all about it from your guide as you travel, and then spend time at leisure in the village, soaking up its ambiance and perhaps paying a visit to its old fortress ruins (admission at your own expense).

Continue north by minibus and stop for photos by Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Roman aqueduct that once supplied the ancient city of Nimes with water. A short distance away is the city of Avignon, which youll visit next on a walking tour. Known as the City of Popes (Cit des Papes), Avignon was once home to a succession of 14th- and 15th-century French popes who lavished the city with grand architectural gestures. While exploring with your guide, see several such monuments, like the Pont St-Bnezet a striking medieval bridge and the impressive Popes Palace (Palais des Papes) which you can visit (own expense).

After a break for lunch in town (own expense), head to Chteauneuf-du-Pape village, in the heart of the countrys Rhne Valley. The name Chteauneuf-du-Pape also applies to the appellation (wine-making region) in which the village lies, and youll taste several of its famous wines on a tour of a wine estate here. See the vineyards and cellars while learning about the regions viniculture from your guide.

Having soaked up the delights of Chteauneuf-du-Pape, meet your guide for your journey back to Aix-en-Provence. Your tour finishes back at the start point in the early evening.

  • Some time more in Les Baux would be great

  • We loved this tour! Natalie took great care of us... she was very knowledgable and friendly!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Matt was our tour guide and he was great!!! We saw Les Baux-de-Provence! I felt like Belle in Beauty and the Beast in this enchanting village!!! We then made our way onto Ponto-du-Gard aqueduct and took in the amazing construction of this site! Avignon followed and we toured the Papal Palace, which was impressive to say the least. We finished the day at the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine region and wine tasted there after touring the museum of French wines there. This was a 5 star day trip and a must for travels to Provence!

  • A memorable experience, french style! Les Baux the Provence, Chateauneuf and Avigmon with Renault, our tour guide was the highlight of our trip!

  • This was our first excursion when we arrived in France. The sites may have been enjoyable but the times between locations were too long and the day was too long.

  • Our tour guide Melanie was very pleasant and knowledgeable! As soon as we began our road trip she began telling us about the region and it and #39;s importance. We had adequate time at each stop and Melanie told us what sites to see, so that we wouldn and #39;t miss an important one.

  • Our guide, Florence, was really great, very knowledgeable and delightful. The tour has 4 very different themes and some may not suit some travelers. The themes are ancient Roman engineering with aquaduct, ancient castle on a mountain, popes palace, and wine tasting. We loved the 1st 2 themes, but the others did not suit us but they would suit others. The tour is best suited for those with wide interests.

  • The tour guide, Matt was just an ok guide. There was too much time scheduled in Avignon, not enough time in Baux or Pont du Gard...and the visit to the vineyard was an extreme disappointment.

  • This was essentially transportation with information along the drive. Cedric was a great guide and we enjoyed his talks. We had enough time to explore and the winery was fantastic -and tasty

  • This tour was wonderfully handled - my tour guide was exceptional.
