  • Great tour for kids and family alike - wonderfully organised by Grayline. Our guide Russell was very informative and fun to travel with.

  • Really enjoyed it. Fab day well worth a visit

  • The tour was fantastic and sovereign hill is well worth the trip. However to call it Ballarat and sovereign hill is a bit misleading. While you briefly drive through the town of Ballarat you get no free time in the town. Sovereign hill was great though the schedule for the tour was very short. You only get five hours at the site which limited time to see all of the site. Though the site closed at 5:30pm, we were told that the bus would be leaving at 3:45pm so that we would arrive back in Melbourne by 5pm instead of waiting to close and arriving back in Melbourne a little later.

  • This was quite a fun trip. The tour was organised by Gray Line. The trip started with the pick up at the hotel, I thought the pick up timing was a little too early, but appreciate that if there were a lot of pick ups, they would need that kind of time. The hotel pick up was very on time and was great. Our bus driver and guide was Don and he was really good at explaining the sights around us all the way to Sovereign Hill. Up on Sovereign Hill, it was rather fun. There were quite some activities to do and I think kids would have loved it and learned from it. It was truly a living museum. I especially enjoyed the characters that walked around the town and made little skits. In the shops the shopkeepers were very fun to interact with. The gold panning, we gave up quite quickly but there were some kids there that we saw managed to get some bits of gold that they were very proud to bring home. Overall, it was a very fun trip. reposted on tripadvisor

  • Driver very nice. Got picked up near hotel and dropped back again. Just the right amount of time at destination

  • Very interesting place to visit.

  • Excellent trip. Knowledgeable guide/driver. Kindly dropped us off at our appropriate hotels at the end of the day as an extra nice touch.

  • Thoroughly enjoyable day from our tour driver to the Sovereign Hill Gold Mining Town. To experience what our forefathers had to endure to possibly/hopefully find their fortune in the rough and extremely violate environment of the time was enlightening. With the staff dressed in period costume and with conversations spoken to you by them in that era was great. Our nephew was quite taken with being able to pan for gold and was lucky enough to find a few flaks to his delight.

  • Overall a good educational tour not boring at all .

  • I have fond memories of visiting Sovereign Hill many many years ago. This tour did not disappoint. Deb, our bus driver/tour guide, gave an interesting commentary on the way to Ballarat. Loved the scones and jam at the New York Bakery the draught horses and the ride on the coach watching the Redcoats do their march and gun firing. It was fascinating watching the Gold Pouring, and seeing the blacksmiths shoeing one of the draught horses and making a poker. A very enjoyable day tour!
