Know More about this tour

Permanent collection of the National Art Museum of Catalonia: Make your way to the National Art Museum in the beautiful National Palace on Montjuic Hill. Redeem your voucher at the ticket office and head inside to enjoy the art independently. Opened in 1934, the museum houses a vast collection of Catalan, Spanish and European art that spans a period of roughly 1,000 years. The gallery includes works by Titian, Gainsborough and modernist masters such as Gaud, too. Perhaps start with the museum's most famous treasures: its Romanesque frescoes. View the vivid artworks, many of which are displayed in recreated church interiors. Don't miss the eye-catching 12th-century Christ in Majesty that depicts a luminous Christ sitting on a rainbow. Explore the stunning Renaissance and baroque collections of paintings and sculptures from Europe between the 1400s and 1900s, with masterpieces by Canaletto, Titian and Goya. Another highlight is the Modern Art section, home to paintings, sculptures, posters and other art nouveau works by 19th- and 20th-century Catalan artists. The showpiece is a collection of Gaud furniture that includes sinuous wood chairs and doors. How long you stay in the museum is up to you, but many people find that three hours is sufficient.

Ticket was easy to get. Museum was fascinating Took taxi there. Beware, taxis are not easily available to get away from museum My husband has mobility issues. Booking a taxi ahead of time is critical. Took over an hour to get one, just waiting. There are many painters I never heard about before.

When searching up things to do in Barcelona I visited many places, this one was my favourite. The building itself is stunning, with a great view of Barcelona from the terrace.

Not only did I get in without any hassle, but the people at the ticket desk were charming and helpful. I have been to this museum at least twice before but always find new things to see and it is a delight to revisit their extraordinary Romanesque collection of frescos. the modern art section is full of works you ill never see outside of Spain and all superbly curated. Lunch in the elegant restaurant was a real treat and I would rate them highly for the excellent choice of food at a very reasonable price.

My daughter and I took a taxi to the museum. The taxi could not get close to the museum entrance. Unfortunately, there was a gated event going on in front of the museum, and we couldn’t get in. One of the guards for the event said that we could walk around to get to the back of the building, but we walked for 45 minutes and could never find any entrance. There were temporary gates all around. We are here for a couple more days and would love the opportunity to use our tickets on another day!

O prédio por si só é lindo, a coleção é extensa e muito bem preservada. Muito interessante, recomendo a visita. Um ingresso normal dá direito a dois dias de visita no mesmo mês, então se não conseguir ver tudo num dia só, é só voltar.

Had an amazing time! Such a stunning art museum! Highly recommend a visit to this! The whole vibe of the place was amazing and so much to look at!

Der Anteil der gothischen und romanischen BIlder ueberwiegen hier eindeutig. Fuer Liebhaber der katholischen Kirche und entsprechender Gemaelde mag das hoechst interessant sein, fuer alle anderen eher sehr einseitig.

We loved this museum enough that we took advantage of their policy to let you come twice within a month on the same admission. The vast Romanesque art collection was breathtaking--stuff from the 10th-12th centuries, carefully peeled off obscure old churches in the mountains. Although there is some curation in English, there is quite a bit that is just in Catalan and Spanish. That said, the curation was imaginative and impressive. We also liked their exhibit about the civil war. Once you get off the subway, it is a 15 minute walk with helpful escalators to get you up to the top of the hill. Despite that, be aware that there are some steps to climb. The view of Barcelona from the museum is lovely. Good free wifi in the main lobby. Relative to other attractions--the Prado in Madrid, the Sagrada Familia--the ticket price was a bargain.
