Know More about this tour

Montserrat Royal Basilica Half-Day Trip (Morning):
After driving through picturesque little villages you will arrive at the craggy mountain of Montserrat and the Royal Basilica. Montserrat has been one of Spain's most important pilgrimage sites for hundreds of years, due to the famous 12th-century Romanesque carving of the Virgen Moroneta, the Black Virgin.

After hearing an introduction to Montserrat from your guide, learning about its importance in past and present times, use your free time (roughly 2 hours) to explore independently and discover the sites Magic on your own. Then, meet back up with your guide later to travel back to Barcelona by coach.

On your way back to Barcelona you will make a stop at the harbor, before continuing to the terminal to commence your tour of the citys Gaudi-designed highlights.

Artistic Barcelona Tour: (4.5 hours)
Set off on your afternoon tour with a stroll to La Sagrada familia, arguably one of the most prized of Gaudis architectural works. Make your way around the outside of the UNESCO-listed cathedral, gazing up at its sky-piercing spires, and learn about its history from your guide. Created during the artists final days, the cathedral remains unfinished but is said to have been his most ambitious project.

From the cathedral, follow your guide to Park Gell, an extensive garden complex located on the hill of El Carmel that was also designed by Gaudi. Known for its architectural features with mosaic terraces, curved walls and eye-catching sculptures, the park attracts lengthy entrance lines. Skip past the lines with your fast-track ticket, and head inside to explore the abundance of pretty walkways and leafy parkland with your guide.

Having admired the colorful mosaics, statues and architecture inside the park, continue to Passeig de Grcia in central Barcelona. On a stroll down the street, stop to see two of Gaudis home-turned-museums: Casa Batll and La Pedrera. Learn how the wealthy Batll and Mil families commissioned the artist to create their residences, and of the controversy that the attention-grabbing abodes created.

Montserrat was beautiful and Park Güell was incredible. Our guides were amazing and helpful. The whole experience was no fuss and we were looked after and we’ll informed. This tour was a pleasure and Mark encouraged us to practice our Spanish.

We were sent to the wrong meeting place and missed the Montserrat tour. We had to book another one later in the day at new expense with another operator. The Sagrada Familia tour the next day was excellent.

Total waste of money! Due to mist at the top of the mountain we could see NOTHING!! This was not obvious when we got on the bus in Barcelona but company knew and sold tickets even though it was apparent that nothing would be visible. 78 euros to see - mist. Seriously, no mountains, no monastery. I complained and was told it's not their fault. I agree the weather is not their fault but selling tickets for tours where nothing is visible is! Don't do.

The drive approaching and up the mountain to Montesarrat in itself was worth the investment. Options at the top suited every traveler's desires. For those seeking geological phenomena, historical awareness, spiritual connection, thrill rides (by gondola or mountain (sharp!) incline, hiking on paved trails, or perfect photo opportunities, this tour cannot disappoint! Our time in Barcelona was limited, so the half day tour worked well, but on a second visit, we would spend a full day at Montserrat.
The Gaudi tour was the best of our two week European whirl! Wish I knew the Julia tours male guide's name, but can say his vast knowledge, quick wit, storytelling prowess, and warm manner maximized our exposure to the quirky talented artist/architect.
Julia agency folks devoted extensive energy toward helping us figure out transportation to our distant hotel. Pleasant, eager to help, and devoted to customer satisfaction.

Wonderful tour! My husband and I aren’t particularly religious but we can definitely appreciate the unique architecture and stunning views Monserrat has to offer. The morning guide was friendly and funny and shared a lot of knowledge about Monserrat. The afternoon portion of the tour was wonderful! Definitely a lot of walking so prepare yourself. We loved visiting all the incredible masterpieces of Gaudí. Our afternoon guide was super awesome and gave us a lot of information of each location we visited. Both pick up and drop off locations were conveniently located near our Hotel on Las Ramblas.

The half day trip to the monastery of Montserrat is enough to see the place. The place is serene and beautiful. We were lucky to hear mass inside the Basilica while we were there. Our guide was knowledgable but a bit sedate in his delivery of facts so it was kind of a sleepy ride. Were it not for him, I would have scored this 5 stars. Cristina, our guide for Artistic Barcelona tour, was excellent. She was passionate and well versed about the sites we saw. I learned to appreciate Gaudi and the other artistic sites in BArcelona through her narrative. She knewsubject matter and kept the annotation of the tour lively and interesting.
