Know More about this tour

Meet in the morning near the London Eye and depart from London on a scenic drive through quintessential English countryside, with a quick comfort stop on the way out of London. During the Summer months, the tour will head first to the highly coveted secret place. The exact location can only be revealed if you choose to join, and will be decided on the day, but with so many beautiful places en route to choose from, it is certain you will love it!

From there, head through small country lanes to the City of Bath. Resplendent in Georgian architecture, it is well worthy of its UNESCO World Heritage City status. Upon arrival, take a guided driving tour of some of Baths highlights, which are perhaps a little far to walk to from the city centre. See the Royal Crescent, the Circus, the Jane Austen Centre and more. Then you will be dropped off near Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, armed with a map and some suggestions of things to see and do, before exploring at your leisure and to have lunch (at own expense). Perhaps you will find a caf to savor a delicious Cornish Pasty or Sally Lunn bun, or try some of the legendary local cider?

Perhaps you will want to explore the Abbey, a wonderful example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture, or visit the beautifully preserved Roman Baths, or take a stroll across Pulteney Bridge over the River Avon, one of only 4 bridges in the world with shops across its full span.

Your guide will offer a walking tour of the city, focusing largely on the Roman Baths (although not entering all together). Listen to your guide for the time of the walking tour, and you can decide on the day whether you would like to join or not.

Next stop, the mysterious, world famous, prehistoric stone circle that is Stonehenge. Your driver/guide will provide commentary en route, providing some background history and discuss some of the theories surrounding it. When you arrive, you will have the chance to see the stones, take a walk around them with plenty of time for some fantastic photo opportunities, before visiting the new visitor center, gift shop and cafe. Visit toward the end of the day during the Summer as the site is generally quieter, and most of the big buses have gone home, giving you a better experience of this awe-inspiring place.

Then, make your way back to London, full of some fantastic memories and experiences from a full-day's adventure. Your guide will plan the route back into London based on where everyone is staying and do their best to make your onward journey home as easy as possible.

  • This small group tour is the way to go. Our guide, Johny was very entertaining which made a very long trip fun and enjoyable. If you want to see Stonehenge forget the big buses and try The English Bus. We went to London to see the Saints play Miami at Wembley Stadium and our Saints won! The trip to Stonehenge with Johny's comedy was the next best attraction.

  • Bath was amazing. Stonehenge is nice to see. Wish we could have spent more time at the secret place.
Lilly makes the trip. She is bubbly and very insightful. Don't know how many times she took us on back roads to avoid heavy traffic. Make sure you join her on the walking tour in Bath

  • We had a great time, with our tour guide Andrew educating us on all things English on our way to the headline sights. Nothing much to see at Stonehenge, but we could have spent more time at Bath. Tour was excellent, we'd go to Bath again.

  • We really enjoyed our whole day tour with Colins and our favorite was the Bath tour! The city was full of amazing architecture and you couldn't really go around the city given the limited time.... I would plan an overnight stay next time so we could see the city and experience all it has to offer! Stonehenge was amazing too. Colins was also very informative and knowledgeable and quite engaging! I give him a 5 star rating too as a tour guide!

  • Great guide and decent time in both locations.

  • The tour was amazing!! Our tour guide Lilly was extremely knowledgeable and an excellent driver. The secret location could not have been more fun and interesting. I would recommend the English Bus tour highly!!

  • I was in London for five weeks and this was my favourite tour. There was a lot of construction around the pickup point and I was the last one to find it, but tour guide Andrew's charm and corny jokes soon put me back in a good mood. I was not expecting to be bowled over by Stonehenge given some of the other online comments, but it was awesome! The secret place -- complete with curious sheep -- was well chosen as a lead-in to the main event, and Andrew's genuine passion for Stonehenge and its mysteries prepared us well for understanding the significance of what we were about to experience. He clearly had mastered the subject and was able to answer questions at any level of factual or philosophical complexity. The decision to take us there as the last stop provided the opportunity for a magnificent sunset as a backdrop. There were few enough people at the site that is was easy to take pictures without other people in them, adding to the impression of timelessness. The visit to Bath was enchanting and there was plenty of time to have lunch and see the nearby points of interest. The vehicle was comfortable and I appreciated the only demonstration of on-board safety equipment and exits that I experienced while travelling in the UK.

  • This tour was delightful and exceeded my high expectations. There is always a trade off between the expertise and logistics provided by a tour guide and the freedom and flexibility of independent travel. I can honestly say I could not have replicated this tour on my own. Our group was 16 people, which allowed for a little flexibility and barely any time wasted rounding people up. The bus was clean, comfortable and roomy. Chris, our tour guide, had a gift for presenting information in an insightful, conversational and often amusing style. As for the secret place, I am sworn to secrecy. So all I am going to say is that enhanced our experience and no one was disappointed.

  • Great tour company The English Bus and great tour guide with Andrew. Well worth the money spent to see all the sites and hear all the history.

  • My girlfriend and I went on this tour a little over a week ago and loved it! Our driver and guide, Andrew, was great! We started with a trip to Stonehenge. Before we arrived, Andrew gave us a lot of information and history about Stonehenge and the other historical sites that surround it which really helped us to appreciate and understand what we were seeing. Then, it was on to Bath, where Andrew gave us a nice driving tour of the city along with some history that again was very informative. During the free time we had in the city, my girlfriend and I were able to have lunch would highly recommend The Huntsman pub just behind the cathedral in Bath for a nice meal and a pint, go through the historical Roman bath's that the city is known for, and take a walk along the river with some time to spare before we had to meet back at the bus. From Bath, it was on to the secret spot and then back to London. It was also operated as a small group tour, which made it feel very personal and added to the experience. The bus was comfortable, which allowed us to get some rest in between stops. Overall, it was a great day! I would definitely recommend this or any other tour operated by The English Bus to anyone looking for a great day trip from London!
