Overview

This 5-hour guided city tour including the new John & Yoko Ono exhibition is the best way to learn how & why Liverpool has changed in the footsteps of the Fab4. After a fun guided walk from the Beatles Statues in front of the Liver & Cunard Buildings to Mathew Street & the Cavern, you take a very short public bus ride on the same route the Beatles took to the suburbs to see Penny lane, Strawberry Field Gates & outside the childhood home of John Lennon. You'll have time to buy refreshments in a local pub or play vinyl in the Jacaranda club owned by the Beatles first manager. This tour has something for everyone as you weave through the World Heritage Site you will see the schools & colleges the boys attended, outside the World's fifth largest cathedral & filming locations like Sherlock & Harry Potter. It's also a perfect shore excursion as the starting point is less than 5 minutes walk from Liverpool Cruise Terminal.

Know More about this tour

The fully guided walking tour starts close to the Mersey Ferry Cruise Terminal with a fabulous photo opportunity of the brand new larger than life statues of the Beatles in front of Liverpools Liver & Cunard Buildings with lots of shipping links including the Titanic.
You will meet your local guide at 10:30am, who after introducing the day and a waterfront walk including selfies of the new Beatles statues they will take you to the brand new "Double Fantasy" John Lennon & Yoko Ono exhibition. You will then walk through the World Heritage Site to see Liverpool Town Hall and the Eleanor Rigby & Cilla Black statues on Mathew Street and visit the world famous Cavern Club where the entrance is included as a part of the tour. You now have time for lunch (at own expense) and buying souvenirs if desired.
After lunch at approx. 12:30 noon you will walk through the newly generated shopping and retail area called Liverpool One, an area cleared with firebombs during the blitz in WW2 in May 1941. You'll see how this vibrant city has re-emerged from the ashes and visit the Jacaranda Pub, see the Georgian Quarter and Chinatown and pass the schools and colleges the band attended and take photos outside the world's 5th largest cathedral, Liverpool Anglican where Paul McCartney was auditioned in 1953 as a chorister.
Your guide will then take you on a very short public bus ride (travel ticket is extra on the day approx 5) on the same route that the boys took from school to Penny Lane in the 1960's - this allows you to explore the suburbs and enjoy the tour in the most authentic way possible. See the Strawberry Field Gates and take photos outside John Lennon's childhood home 'Mendips' (which you can not do on most other tours) before arriving back in central Liverpool at Liverpool One Bus station opposite the Albert Dock, which is 10 minutes walk away from the Cruise Terminal. For those keen to shop, Liverpool One is a brand new billion pound retail and leisure area with lots of places to buy food and souvenirs.
