Know More about this tour

Your relaxed seven-hour tour begins at Tian'anmen Square, focusing on a more recent page from China's history and the Cultural Revolution of Chairman Mao Zedong. You will tour the grounds and see Tian'anmen Tower, Monument to the people's heroes, Great Hall of the People and Chairman Mao's monument.

Then it's on to the legendary Forbidden city, known as the Imperial Palace Museum. The history of every dynasty is represented here in four palatial halls, and you'll have the most in-depth visit of the Forbidden city available on this tour.

After a substantial lunch, your final destination is the aptly named Temple of heaven, dating from the 15th century. Built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, The temple of heaven was the center of prayer, traditional ceremonies and sacrificial rites. To complete your sightseeing you'll have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Chinese Medicine Center and Silk Store.

this tour was good, but not much more then that
i was taken to both the tourist option, and had a ticket for the forbidden city (which was great)
i wish i could have some more time in the square, and some more to see the grounds in the temple of heaven... but i got what i was promised...

the tour-guide took me to both a silk factory, and a pearl store. both he tried to make me buy stuff.. i felt highly pressured to buy things, even dough i did not really wanted to..

altogether, you get what you pay for, lesson learned don't book the cheapest tour you find..

The itinerary was called: "Beijing Historical Tour including the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Temple of Heaven" and we did all those things and they were amazing to see. The tour guide, Zoey (her anglicized name) was fun, friendly, knowledgeable and easy to understand. The rating would have been 5 if it stopped here. I removed a star because we made 2 stops that never mentioned online or before we left, and were blatant shopping stops. One was the Silk Road "museum" (store) and the other was to a tea-house (store). Now, they at least tried to make these places slightly interesting, but not what I wanted to see and they took time away from the real attractions and reasons I signed up for the tour. The reason I removed the second star was because as we were passing through the Forbidden City, everyone in our tour group wanted to stop at the gift shop there, but Zoey insisted we needed to move on and we could do our shopping at the Silk Road Museum store (this was the first any of us knew of this planned stop). We moved on, but when we got to the silk museum store it was 99% silk products with very little non-silk related items! If I were to do this again I would have insisted we wanted to stop at the Forbidden City museum store.

Our guide was wonderful - went out of her way for us as Tiananmen Square was closed due to the African conferences and delegation visits planned for there. She spoke excellent english and took us on a side visit to a tea house which was also great. Her local knowledge and knowledge of the history surrounding all of the sites was flawless.

Even though it was raining we were still in awe of the size of the Forbidden City and we definitely enjoyed seeing the Temple of Heaven. Our guide was pleasant and did stop several times to explain a few things but then also gave us a little time to explore on our own. You could easily see these places on your own but the guide did tell us bits of information as well as he made the ticket purchases and entrances much easier.

Tour Stops: 1 Tiananmen Square, 2 Forbidden City, 3 Silk Factory, 4 Temple of Heaven, 5 Foot Massage, and 6 Lunch at Shanshuijian Lamb Spine Hot Pot.

Overall, the Silk Factory and Foot Massage were not part of the advertised tour and were obviously over-priced tourist traps. I would have preferred more time at the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven rather than stopping at these places. Furthermore, lunch was very average.

The tour cost was very low and all transportation was provided, however, I would recommend picking a more expensive tour that does not have all the side stops.

Our tour guide, Jackie, was fantastic, fun and knowledgable. We loved being picked up at our hotel and not dealing with transportation at all. You get the full experience on this tour -- Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and history but also the silk "factory", a tea house and even an odd health clinic at the end. Our two teenage daughters were engaged the whole time.
