The tour begins at port where you hop on an air-conditioned motor coach for a one-hour drive along scenic road, passing quaint villages on your way to Orotina. Costa Rica's topography is one of the worlds most diverse. Rolling hills, high mountains, plains, valleys, and riverbeds are just part of the gorgeous landscape that make you think of one word: paradise.
On the way, stop for watching the White-Faced Capuchin Monkeys and sometimes the Howler Monkeys, in a private property that had been taking care of this animals for a long time.
Once in the area, you can find many small local vendors and fruit stands with some truly exotic tropical fruits, such as caimitos (star apples), cashew fruits, cashew nuts, mangos, Star fruit and many more amazing fruits, most endemic to Costa Rica. Our guide will explain all about these fruits and give you samples for enjoy them.
Continuing our scenic drive, you will enjoy an Eco Boat Tour in the Tarcoles River, where many and huge crocodiles inhabit. This river hosts the largest population of crocodiles in Costa Rica. Besides crocodiles, you will be able to enjoy many different aquatic birds, Monkeys, Toucans, Scarlet Macaws and other species. After this tour, a short break is given for enjoy a cup of coffee or ice tea.
After all this, you will visit El Jardin Souvenir Store, one of the largest souvenir stores in the area, where you will be allowed to walk around the place, go shopping or taste a local meal at the restaurant.
Early afternoon, the return to Puntarenas will include a Bus City Tour. The main attractions will be The Puntarenas Cathedral, The Light-House, The Fishing area, The Central Market, The Stadium, Paseo de la Turistas and Artisan Market.
After the tour, you can decide to stay in the city or make your way back directly to the ship. For all those interested in walking along the boulevards, the pier is located right at the city at a very short distance from your ship. So, no worries for an easy return.
