The bus was on time, Mike, our driver and commentator was informative and funny. We stopped extra places, but missed stopping at the Punalu'u Bake shop! We were a bit surprised by the small size of the lunch at Volcanoes Restaurant. Again, we had thought it was a full circle tour but ended up going from Hilo across the island via the Saddle Road. It was good to not have to be the driver in the dark, and appreciate being able to rely on Mike's capable driving. Our big objection was the steep bus steps!!

While the places covered were very good mostly the guide was rubbish. For a start he did not introduce himself and at no point did he tell us his name. He spent far too much time talking about himself and his house and family and not enough detail about the island and the places we visited. the return journey over Saddle Road took place after dark and he completely ruined it by playing a very boring video about cowboys. Not everyone likes watching TV I would have preferred to read but there were no lights inside the coach.

The tour was good. Saw many of the main attractions and an interesting history lesson. The lunch was not very good however. Small portions and bland.

This is a good way to see some of the highlights of the Big Island. I learned about the history of Hawaii.

Complete waste of time and money. A 12 hour tour for which the first and last 1.5 hours are dedicated to rounding up all the suckers at their various hotels.
Then they drive 45 minutes to take you to a coffee place where you can sample coffee and buy some in the company store for about an hour.
Then they tell you the beach they said they were going to take you to is closed due to the weather, so instead, they drive you another 45 minutes to a bakery. They leave you at the bakery for about an hour so you can buy snacks and water.
They drive another 1.5 hours to show you a volcano, but there isn't much to see anymore except some sulfur gas coming out of the ground. They leave you there for about an 1.5 anyway so you can have lunch.
Then they drive another 45 minutes and take you to a macadamia nut company store and leave you there for an hour to buy macadamia nuts.
Finally, they drive another 45 minutes to a waterfall, but stay only 15 minutes because it is pouring out (as they say it does 80% of the time). Then they drive you another 1.5 hours home.
I called the company to complain. The first time I called, the person who answered disconnected me "by accident". The second time I called, the person who answered put me on hold for 10 minutes and I hung up. The third time I called, they listened to my story, put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back and said they were sorry there was absolutely nothing they could do.
Save your money. You can buy the same Kona coffee and Macadamia Nuts in any gift shop or at the airport in Hawaii. Not only is this tour a complete ripoff, it wastes one of your precious days in Hawaii. -
This tour was all we had hoped it would be plus, plus! Sal was our guide, which, at first blush when told he was from 'Jersey, was an 'Oh No but turned out to be an 'Oh Yes! Not only was he most knowledgeable but kept our interest through a long day.We just wanted to enjoy the day and see how this island fit in to the whole chain. Having visited all the Hawaiian Islands with the exception of the 'Big One' this tour was just what we wanted. We not only enjoyed ourselves but we learned a lot about Hawaii. My wife and I enjoyed sharing the day with an excellent guide, learned a lot, and made new friends. I would highly this tour and Sal as the guide!

Great tour! our driver guide was so knowledgeable. My least favorite part of the tour was the Royal Kona stop. The women at the cashier were so snippy and unfriendly. I bought 200 worth of coffee and they cannot even give answers when being asked about their coffee. I understand that your coffee is one of the best in the world but the customer service of that store needs improvement.

I love this tour especially after we visiting the Big Island, the volcano exploded. Since we only stayed 2 nights in Big Island, the tour
covered whole island and tour guy was very knowledgeable and arranged the time to each place very well. We just love it: -
Tour guide, Jala was excellent. Bus was wonderful. Little disappointed in crater/volcano stop. Tour was long 12 hours Last hour was just travel and it was dark and you were unable to see anything.
