Rithy was a fantastic guide on this tour. He was funny, personable, and a good singer. His enthusiasm to share why he is proud to be from Cambodia was contagious as he shared cultural rice wine, rice planting, and rice noodle practices. We also learned a lot about Kampot’s history at the temple and little fun facts about Pursat: the province where he is from. Learning about how to weave bamboo baskets and getting hands-on experience was a real highlight too. This tour was well-organized and a great way to experience the surrounding Cambodian countryside in Kampot. The company owners are also so friendly and give great recommendations for other stuff to do in Kampot and around Cambodia. The morning weather was perfect, but I recommend taking the tour in the afternoon if you can so that you can try the famous Khmer noodles rather than just learning about them because the family makes the noodles in the afternoon.

Bovendien zeer sympathieke organisatie waar delen voorop staat. Aanrader.

I was lucky enough to be the only one on my tour and also lucky enough to be Koem Sieng's first official customer to guide through the backroads. He and our VIP (Very Important Photographer) Sam Ath were perfect and made my trip one of the most fun things I've done in Cambodia so far. The route was fun, the people we met along the way were welcoming and so friendly, and making Koem Sieng take embarrassing photos of us doing peace signs in a rice paddy was a great bonus. I highly recommend these guys and this tour, they are superb. Even Sam Ath breaking into a Michael Bublé song at the end couldn't spoil the experience! ;)

I spent one morning with Sam Ath around the countryside in Kampot and I had a great time ! The landscapes were beautiful and Sam Ath was really nice. He gave me a lot of information about the daily rural life in Cambodia. I really enjoyed having a glimpse of the real-life of the locals. I also liked the fact that Butterfly Tours is a locally-run company, with people happy to share their knowledge about their country. I highly recommend the tour which was really worth it !

We had the most fantastic afternoon with Sam Ath from Butterflytours, showing us around the countryside with bicycles! A very sympathetic guide, friendly, spontanous and patient and really enthousiast about everything himself. It rained enormously, but we enjoyed every minute, being overwhelmed from tbe green of the ricefields, the landlife and the interestings spots! This tour is really worth doing if you want to see things off the road.

Hi everyone:) This morning our guide and futur singstar Sam Ath showed us some pretty parts of Kampot :) The road was nice and dont worry everyone can do it! Even if there was some flooded parts (rain) it really didn’t matter, it was even cooler! You will have different stops and he will show and explain the cultural life of the local people. I won’t tell you everything so you will have little surprises:) So just try, its not that expensive and it lasts just a few hours :) Thanks Sam Ath, Your muddy friends lol ;)

I did half a day bike tour with Rithy, we visited a lotus farm, a lady making rolled sweets, a fresh noodles maker, where I enjoyed a lovely noodles soup, then went to another village where we visited a temple compound and the nearby school, all the while we pedalled in the dry countryside. Rithy was explaining how people live, cultural aspects of the town and the country, answering my questions, his English was very good and his company enjoyable. I met another couple of members of this company and came away with a very good impression, I highly recommend this tour and this company. Going forward, I would expand the bike tour to the include the salt flats.

Whilst our guide did his best, and explained some interesting things about lotus flowers and rolled biscuit production, the route that was taken was very unscenic and basically felt like a tour of the rubbish dumps of Kampot. It obviously doesn't help that the paddy fiends are dry and barren in April, but the route that was taken was nothing special at all. The pagoda that we spent far too much time at, was not a good example and was badly maintained and not at all attractive. The rice noodle maker was lying in a hammock and production had stopped, but the place was an absolute dump and I wouldn't have wanted any noodle from there! I am a long term backpacker, and I am used to roughing it, but the noodle 'factory' was a stinking garbage dump. It was lovely to see the lady making the biscuits and we gladly purchased some, and I was interested in the lotus pond, but there are far prettier parts of Kampot than are shown on this tour. And the bikes are in poor condition and very uncomfortable. The guide did his best, but continually told stories in the full 38degree sun, to the point that we all had to say we HAVE to stand under a tree.
