My wife and I were in PV a couple years ago and found Puerto Vallarta Cycling online and booked a tour to Sayulita with Clarence. It was really fun, cool destination, great food, and Clarence was an excellent guide. So when we made plans to return to PV for vacation a couple weeks ago, we looked Clarence up about a month ahead of time and found a day to bike with him to El Tuito. It was a beautiful oceanside start with a fun climb up the Sierra Madre mountains. We'll never go to PV without hooking up with Clarence for a bike tour. In fact, we'll probably book a couple tours with him on our next trip! Highly recommend!

I had a fantastic day cycling with Clarence! El Tuito is a long, tough climb and I appreciated how he accommodated my pace and kept me motivated with just enough information and encouragement. We stopped for a lovely breakfast snack at the top in Tuito, and finished with a hidden gem taco stand. Clarence is proactive in pointing out obstacles on the road, especially during the descent, which was really helpful. Communication, from discussing the route choice and bike sizing, to pick-up at my hotel in Puerto Vallarta, was all straightforward and simple. Go for it, you won't be disappointed!

I had a great ride with Clarence climbing to El Tuito. I will definitely book another tour whenever I go back to PV. Highly recommend.

This is a beautiful and challenging ride. Clarence is a great guide with quality bikes. El Tuito is a cool little town to check out. And we topped it off with great tacos at a stand in PV. I will be back for another tour. Highly recommended.

This was my first time to Puerto Vallarta and I am so grateful that i had the opportunity to do this ride with Clarence. It was a fantastic ride and really allowed me to see the beauty of this region away from the touristy overpopulated beach. Clarence is fantastic. Nicest guy! He took me up to El Tuito. I had told him ahead of time that i really wanted to push myself and go deep, so he went out of his way to make it a custom ride. He added a little more, so I was also able to see the other side of the mounted which felt even more secluded. Afterwards we went to have amazing tacos. felt like a very immersive experience. Clarence has fantastic equipment and he was also able to provide shimano road petals to clip in. I hope that some day i'll be able to go back and do it again.

I booked with Puerto Vallarta Cycling for the El Tuito package. First and foremost, let me say, if you're looking to book a cycling tour when you're in PV, book through Clarence and Carmen. Excellent communication - I received emails asking what my fitness was and what gear I needed before arriving in town. I was able to request a Garmin mount and road pedals and Clarence was able to provide the water bottles (which is fantastic). They also offer helmets, if you need them. One of the things that impressed me most about this cycling tour is that you will get picked up at your hotel and transported to the start of the ride. No hassle whatsoever. The bike was a Specialized Roubaix and was in great condition. One thing I would advise is that is if you're going for a long ride, I would bring your own saddle. The one on the bike is the stock saddle and was slightly uncomfortable and a bit narrow. Clarence has all the tools to set saddle height, set-back, etc to get you dialed in, and next time I'm down in PV, I plan on bringing my own saddle and bike measurements to get the tour bike set to how I like to ride. The actual tour is fantastic. El Tuito is a notable climb. I'm not in the best of shape, but I'm also not in the worst of shape but this ride destroyed my legs - in a good way. So be prepared to work on this climb. Clarence let me lead so that I could set my own climbing pace and not feel rushed. This is a climb where you will want to take it easy at the start and then work up to a comfortable pace as the first half is a continuous climb that never lets up. Along the way, you stop at an outdoor pastry shop and get delicious donut-like pastries - included with the price of your tour. Nearing the top of the climb, you have the option of riding into town on a short section of cobbles. It's pretty bumpy and can be pretty jarring if you're not accustomed to absorbing the shock. Once up top, we took a picture at the El Tuito sign, refilled our water bottles and headed back down. The descent is fast but not all that technical. Clarence will safely guide you down and show you the right lines to take to avoid the rough roads. Once you safely arrive back to the start, have Clarence take you to one of the many amazing places to eat that exist in PV. We had fish tacos at this place called Marisma. They were amazing. Once again, included in the price of your tour! Most importanly, the tourguide is what makes the tour what it is. Clarence is a down-to-earth guy who just wants to share his love of cycling with people who are vacationing in PV. He is super chill, great sense of humor and constantly checked in on me throughout the ride to make sure I was getting everything I wanted out of it. I never felt like an inconvenience even if my climbing pace occasionally slowed to a crawl. If you're looking for a cycling tour in PV, Clarence is your guy. TL;DR: Clarence is fantastic. The tours are amazing and the price can't be beat. If you're particular about some of your equipment, like your saddle, it may be easier to bring it with you. Bring some sort of electrolyte supplement with you - it will get warm and you will sweat and cramp if you don't replenish.

The tour to El Tuito is not easy and suitable as a challenging cycling workout. Long climbs towards El Tuito become super fun descents when cycling back to Puerto Vallarta. Clarence was very helpful and always gave signals about cracks and obstacles ahead. Besides he recommended nice places to eat out in Puerto Vallarta. I found them worth to visit too.

Clarence was great. He went back to his establishment for some clip pedals that I forgot. He then picked me up and we biked up to El Tuito. He always had my safety in mind. He was knowledgeable and friendly. I've recommended him to cyclist friends of mine.
