Colombia has the greatest avian biodiversity in the world, it is the home to 1,900 species (more or less 20% of all the birds on Earth). 197 species of migratory birds are also temporary residents.
Bogot is located in a very privileged area for birds, well the citys location is a broad plateau within the Easter Cordillera of the Andes at about 2,600 meters above sea level. One of the greatest advantages of the capitals location is that you do not need to go far away from the city to get a sight of some wonderful endemic species, as a matter of fact you may even see many of them within the city.
All in all, to have a rich experience in this tour youll be taken to a pramo (a variety of alpine tundra ecosystems, specially seen at de Andes) near by Bogot. The pramo that you will go to depends on the type of species you want to see, well there are some different species in the pramos. These are the different parmos you can go to: Sumapaz, Chingaza, Tablazo y Verjn/Cruz Verde (you will only go to one pramo on this tour depending on the season).
The tour will start with a 4:30am pick at your hotel where youll be take to the meeting point with a bilingual expert guide. Here you will enjoy a nice cup of coffee, a pastry and cheese. Then youll start your journey to the pramo where you will have 4-hour to explore the trails of the natural reserve and to be captivated by a peaceful and fulfilling bird watch with everything the paramos beauty has to offer. Before heading back to Bogot you will have a delicious lunch. At the end of this fascinating tour youll be taken back to your hotel so you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon as you wish!
