Overview

Enjoy a guided tour of one of England's most famous palaces & gardens but also home to the Churchill family and Duke of Marlborough. Our tour will describe the destiny of events which led to the creation of Blenheim palace. Its creation was no easy achievement- the main architect was even refused entry to see his completed work! However, it is open today for all to enjoy its sumptuous interior and its expansive gardens, lake house and maze.

Palace entry ticket worth 28.50 per person is included in your tour price. Guided tour duration is 90 minutes+.

Upon arrival at Blenheim palace, your guide will take you on a guided tour lasting approximately 90 minutes. You will then have free time to visit other parts of the palace and gardens on your own.

OPTION ALSO EXISTS TO SELECT TO ADD ON A 90 MINUTES PRIVATE WALKING TOUR OF OXFORD AT START OF THE TOUR FOR ADDITIONAL 100 FEE.

PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME AT THE AGREED MEETING POINT:

Please arrive 5 minutes early for your tour at our meeting point. If you arrive more than 5 minutes later than the scheduled tour, then you might forfeit and lose your booking as if your arriving late, as this may interrupt the guide and other customers, if we are trying to find you after a guide has started and left the meeting point.

WE OFFER YOU THE OPTION TO EITHER MEET US in OXFORD TO CATCH THE PUBLIC BUS WITH US TO THE PALACE OR TO MEET US AT 2PM AT THE PALACE, LOCATED ABOUT HALF HOUR DRIVE AWAY FROM OXFORD CITY.

INFO FOR DRIVERS AND PARKING:

If you are driving, then please allow extra 30-60 minutes over whatever time you think it will take you to get here. Oxford is NOT car friendly and it is congested roads and hard to find parking spaces....unless you park at the sign posted 'park and rides' on edge of town on any major road into the city and hop on their buses into city centre. The park and ride buses leave every 15 or every 30 minutes and take anything from 10 min to 30 min (depending on traffic) to reach city centre. So if you are going to drive, then please assume you should be aiming to park your car about one hour before your tour starts.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

We actually recommend instead using the much faster and reliable train services but again please aim to arrive about an hour or earlier before your tour starts as trains can be delayed and the train and coach station are about 15 minutes walk from our meeting point. There is also the coach service from London called the Oxford Tube which leaves every half hour or more but it can take much longer than its advertised 105 minute journey time. It drops you off either at High street Oxford or Gloucester Green coach station. It's quicker to ask to get off on High street near Carfax tower, then it's a 10 minutes walk to Broad street.

The palace is impressive and my guide, Tom, was most engaging and full of knowledge about its history.

We had a great day on our e-bike tour of the Cotswolds with Cotswolds Bike Tours. Alasdair's colleague, Laura, toured us around to Roman ruins, manor ruins, picturesque villages, churches and a nice lunch spot. Laura had a lot of background information to share at our various stops, which was very educational. The bikes were in excellent condition -- very new. We highly recommend this tour!

I was sceptical initially about visiting another palace or castle in Britain. However, after the visit to Blenheim Palace I have second thoughts now. My wife and I both have Peter our guide to thank. He was not only most knowledgeable of the tour but he went way beyond the norm by making our trip most meaningful and memorable one although this is already the 4th palace/castle we have visited in UK since our arrival in September. Peter was well prepared for the tour and made it simple and most interesting. He even carried an umbrella in the event it rain which it did at the end of the tour. On top of that at the end of the visit, Peter also kindly arranged tea for us and some English goodies to sample in the form of chocolate caramel shortcake and also oatmeal and raisin biscuits at the garden terrace of Bleiheim Palace. It allowed us to truly appreciate the magnificient view of this ?estate. At the end of the paid tour Peter in his own time gave us a quick introduction and run around Oxford so that it will be easier for us when we do our cycle and walking tour of Oxford the next day. Tqvm, Peter you had made a real difference!! Cheers

It was a pleasure to have Peter as our guide. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the Churchills and all things British made our visit an afternoon my husband and I will never forget. He politely answered all our questions. At the end of the tour, we sat down and he served us tea and cookies while we had a most interesting discussion on British writers, movies, and other tours we might be interested in taking in the future.

Good tour of Blenheim palace. Tour guide Mr Michiel Van Hout was great. Highly recommended. Only audio guide being allowed inside the palace - is bit irritating, however it was over come by Michiel discreetly.

We took the tour out to Blenheim Palace from Oxford. As a group of 4 we got a very personal tour. There were several events going on that limited our access, but our tour guide navigated the difficulties (loud sound checks for an evening concert and closed areas) with professionalism and persistence. We highly recommend and would use again.

We spent a wonderful afternoon with Michel at Blenheim Palace. His knowledge of the history and personalities of the people who shaped the palace brought the palace to life. And his knowledge of art and film provided entertaining anecdotes which kept us fully engaged for the entire tour. This was the best tour of a palace that we have experienced in England. We highly recommend Michel and the entire professional team at Visit Oxford.
