Know More about this tour

Your 2-hour walking tour starts from the tourist office in central Bordeaux. The exact route may vary depending on the weather and number of people in the group, but your guide will be sure to show you as many of the city’s highlights as possible.

Walk to Monument aux Girondins, a dramatic fountain statue commemorating the Girondists, a group of political martyrs who were executed for their militant support during the French Revolution.

Continue along the banks of the Garonne River to Place de la Bourse, home to the stock exchange. This square was laid out in the 1700s by King Louis XV's architect Gabriel. There you can spot the fountain of the three graces.

Make your way to Rue Sainte-Catherine, the pedestrian street in the heart of the historical city center, lined with countless shops and restaurants. Rue Sainte-Catherine — often considered one of the longest pedestrian streets in Europe — links Place de la Victoire to Place de la Comédie.

Arrive at Place de la Comédie, a busy traffic hub that was once the site of a Roman temple. Here you’ll find one of France's esteemed theaters, Grand Théâtre, which is also the city's cultural symbol. Built between 1773 and 1780 as testimony to the prosperity of Bordeaux's emerging bourgeoisie, it’s one of the last remaining 18th-century theaters in the world.

Your tour ends back at the tourist office, and your guide will be happy to give recommendations on ways to continue enjoying Bordeaux on your own.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • Well worth the money. We walked through the area of the Bourse, the Quais in that area, and down to the medieval city. Our guide was knowledgeable, offered perspective, and was very good at noting how much the city has changed over the years. I wished for more, but she gave us two hours and then offered a wonderful suggestion for lunch.

  • Tour was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the whole day fun. We wines where very good as well. Would highly recommend this tour.

  • Really enjoyed our tour. Maria was an excellent guide, great English and full of information about the history and architecture of Bordeaux.

  • We were in a small group of -13 with an English speaking guide with a sense of humour. A very good introduction to the city

  • This was an easy, pleasant 2 hour stroll around Bordeaux in the company of a very informative guide. A good way to get to know the history, sights, architecture of the city.

  • The success of tour like this is largely dependent on the guide and we were so lucky to have Michael Haddak who made us all feel very welcome and as well as being very knowledgeable - he also has a great energy which really adds to the tour. Thank you again for arranging such a great, interactive and fun tour.

  • The guide was very soft spoken and it was difficult to hear what she had to say about each place we stopped. I believe the enthusiasm was lacking and the tour would have been much more productive had we had a person that was aware of the groups size and communicated using eye contact and dialogue to insure that all were able to hear the content of the presentation. Disappointing to say the least.

  • We were very excited about the tour having read great reviews but were sadly disappointed with the guide. The sights were glorious and the time of tour appropriate but our guide Marie didn't want to engage or veer off her prepared script. She hurried ahead of the group and was not open to answering questions. By the end of the tour it was very awkward. I typically love walking tours but felt this was not a good experience.

  • Very interesting tour with a very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable guide Catherine. Definitely recommend to any visitors wanting to hear about the history of the city, much better than the bus tour I went on the previous day.
