The walking tour on Monday 7th November morning was a huge disappointment. We only saw three or four of the major tourist attractions, and the tour did not cover the old city at all. If you are looking for an in-depth lecture/ commentary on the history and geography of Bordeaux and not a tour of the actual sites of interest, then this might be one for you. I am not sure how a walking tour can omit the monuments of the old city such as St Andre's cathedral: that was not made clear in the description. Many of the major tourist attractions of Bordeaux were not visited in the two hours, which meant I had to design my own tour in the afternoon. In addition, the guide suggested a walk to be done in our own time, on the other side of the river crossing one bridge and coming back on the next bridge, this was a total waste of time as the walk was not scenic and took a very long time to do, in addition to being along an area that felt less safe. The guide also kept switching between English and French in mid-sentence, which was difficult to follow...

Très très sale forte odeur d urine. Beaucoup de SDF et des migrants traînant partout dans les rues. Dommage la ville est magnifique.

Not really a Walking Tour, more a standing round listening to our guide talk in French. The English translations were very short and in no way in as much detail. We walked around in one big circle and in my opinion lots of the more beautiful buildings, which we discovered our own later that day, weren’t touched on. He just kept talking about a castle that was no longer there and a surrounding moat that also was no longer there…. Eventually after he’d talked in French to our French members of the group, and then said to us ‘we move on ?’ Without even attempting to tell us what he’d just been talking about in English, we gave up and skipped out. Our own explorations after this were far more enjoyable. Not worth the money we paid at all unfortunately. I had hoped to learn and see much of the city to become acquainted with the place we were visiting for a few days. Not to be on this tour ….

Wonderful tour guide who brought the city to life. Met a couple from Seattle, my home, and made a new friendship. Wonderful.

Très belle ville , un patrimoine exceptionnel mais malheureusement très très sale , rats morts, poubelles débordantes , encombrants .... Mais que font les services propreté de cette commune ?? Cela donne une image déplorable de la ville est ses services municipaux . Très déçus.

I do city walking tours in every new city I visit. This one ranks at the bottom. Our guide was a kind gentleman but he was too professorial and uninspiring. In the entire first hour of the tour, we had probably walked less than 100 meters. He spoke about one particular building for a half hour. It was exceedingly hot. His stories could have been much more to the point. The next building was much of the same, long stories that took far too long in the sweltering heat. We didn’t move. By the third building, which he said he could talk about for two hours, I was seriously thinking I was about to faint because we were not moving and it was 100 degrees. History doesn’t have to be boring and a walking tour should include walking and fun I retesting facts about the city. I left to get some air and see something before the 2 hours were up . This was a no, never again.

We have the habit of taking walking tours, if available, in every town we visit. The tour we took in Bordeaux was really nice, very useful to discover the peculiarities of the city centre and our guide was absolutely fantastic. He adjusted the tour to the audience and gave us all the necessary information to understand the urbanisation of the town. I do advise everyone to have this experience. It is the best way to have a general overview of a town.

Poca storia, pochissima arte e nessun cenno alla città moderna . Chiese, strade e i famosi palazzi, pochissimo cenni
