Start the most important meal of the day with some adorable orangutans, the gentle giants of their playground. These great apes are the new family members of the Bali Zoo. This is a half-day small group experience.

Head to the Buffalo House area, where you’re treated to a hearty full breakfast of international and local favorites, including tropical fruits and juices. Watch the orangutans as you dine, and enjoy their playful antics with backdrop of vine and branches before taking your family photos with the apes. You'll also have a close-up visit with a Sumatran Elephant, Siamang gibbon, hornbill, yellow crested cockatoo and vibrant eclectus parrots.

After breakfast continue your morning tour around the zoo, learn about the various species at the zoo, play with the domesticated animals at the petting zoo and watch the animal presentation at 11am. You will return to your hotel around 12pm with your driver.

Know More about this tour

Breakfast in the zoo might be a common thing, but breakfast with Orangutan? This is a one of a kind experience! As the first location to offer this experience in Indonesia guests are not only able to eat breakfast like a king, but also with some of the kings in the jungle, the orangutans.

Your tour begins when you are picked up from your accommodation around 7am and taken to the Bali Zoo. Upon arrival, breathe in the fresh air of Gianyar, feel the breeze, embrace the light morning fog, and hear the chirpy birds and other animals that are just awaking.

The friendly staff will guide guests to the Elephant View Restaurant. You will witness three to four orangutans playing around in the playground area of the restaurant. Not only being amused by the adorable orangutans, but the hearty breakfast is also a specialty. It starts with assorted seasonal fruits and vegetable or fruit juice, followed by fresh-baked bread that serve with butter and jam. Breakfast ends with your chosen main course which may include Eggs Benedict, Homemade Granola, Nasi Kuning or more. Don’t forget, a cup of Balinese kopi tubruk or a warm English Breakfast tea will add to the perfect breakfast.

Although the orangutans are the main charm of this experience, your tour also includes a morning zoo tour with access to see all the animal shows that happen prior to 12pm. What better way to begin your morning other than seeing the adorable animals that will make your day? At the end of your journey, you are encouraged to make photos with the orangutans and other animals before the van takes you back to your hotel.

  • I had a real day. It started with having a awesome driver who told me so much about Bali it made the trip go fast. Then straight into having a beautiful buffet breakfast where the staff waited on me they were so attentive. Then I had a great time the orangutan grabbed my hand it was a lovely moment. I grabbed a few shot of myself with all the animals that were at the breakfast. Then I went for a big walk around the zoo I felt it was a great experience for the money I paid

  • Great chance to get up close and personal with some animals -- orangutans, elephants, birds. Fantastic breakfast buffet in an open-air patio overlooking the elephant pool, and right near the orangutans, who are not in cages! We were given numbers to get our turn to take our photos with the animals. Afterward, free time to roam around the zoo. Our driver got lost, traffic was gridlock, and it took a very long time to get us back to our hotel, but otherwise, our time at the zoo was really fun!

  • Well worth doing.... Get up close and personal with more animals than just the orangutans!

Only thing I would say is maybe call the tour something else as you don and #39;t get much time with the orangutans!!

    But still a good morning

  • We thoroughly enjoyed this experience . We got to spend enough time with the orangutans and also got to interact with elephants and some birdlife. The staff took pics for us on our own phone and camera as well as taking photos that you can purchase. Brekkie was good and zoo is excellent

  • I had a great time with the Orangutan's at the Zoo, we got to spend about 5 minutes interacting with them, they are cheeky and try to steel things out of your pockets and your hat. The breakfast was really good as well. Tr
he driver collect me on time.

  • Lady Aly and I booked the tour through Viator and took the tour last week whilst in Bali. The booking process was very simple and confirmatory emails were received in a matter of minutes.
Even though the tour only had one previous review a very negative one, we decided to give it a go.
The driver arrived at our hotel at the agreed time, and he was very courteous and the vehicle was very well presented. The trip to the zoo from Tanjong Benoa took around an hour.
We arrived at the zoo and entry to the tour went without a hitch. We then proceeded to the breakfast/interaction area.
Upon arrival, we were escorted to our seat and given a number which would be called out later when it was our turn to enjoy the company and interact with the orangutans. There were three young orangutan, 2 elephants, a number of exotic birds and a porcupine in the breakfast area.
The breakfast was well presented with good quality food and lots of it. There was lots of variety to choose from, with the traditional western bacon and eggs, different types of cereals, and pancakes, syrups, fruits, toast, juices, tea and coffee.
Whilst enjoying our breakfast, we had the opportunity to watch the others before us take their turn at engaging and having fun with the young orangutan. All the while everyone else had the chance to have pictures taken with the elephants and to hold the birds.
For a small fee, you could purchase a fruit and vegie basket to feed the elephants.
Our turn came to enjoy the company of the orangutan and it was an enjoyable experience not to be missed. The keepers helped us with positioning so that the orangutan were not put out by us and we were directed as to ensure we had the best opportunity to get the most out of the experience. The orangutan seemed to enjoy the experience as well, with the younger one really acting it up and stealing hats , sunglasses or anything else she could get her hands on.
The breakfast/interaction lasted until 10:00 am. There was no rush to get people out, the staff were more than happy to let people grab a few late photos.
After one of the most enjoyable times of our trip to Bali, we proceeded to have a look at the rest of the zoo.
Although not large by any means, the zoo had a very good collection of animals. It was very easy to get around and all of the displays were well kept and in good condition.
At Gibbon Island, the residents put on quite a show. Swinging from tree to tree and treating us to a real sing song of howls and shrieking.
It only took around 90 mins to get around the rest of the zoo, and we departed around 11:30 for the 1 hour trip back to our hotel.
We gave this trip a five star rating based on value for money and the overall experience that it offers for visitors.
Unless you have the opportunity to visit an orangutan sanctuary, I don't believe you will have a better experience.
All of the animals are well cared for and all look to be in very good health and spirit.
Lady Aly and I will certainly be returning for another visit when next we are in Bali.
Many thanks to the staff, and in particular, many thanks to the orangutang family and the elephants who made our trip so enjoyable.

  • Definitely not worth the price. If the price was lowered to about 15 a person with children free, then possibly for the experience. The Orangutans made an appearance,... The elephants were there the entire time which was cool, however they then charge you for the snack basket for the elephants and the souviner photo. We didn't even spend the entire 5 hours walking around. Once we were finished with breakfast, we walked around until maybe 10 am and asked to be taking back to our hotel. If you want to see animals, Check out the Bali Marine and Safari. Worth the money.
