Know More about this tour

At 12pm meet your historian guide in the center of Prague. Listen as your guide tells stories about Prague's long history of brewing beer as you walk toward the brewery at Bevnov Monastery where Benedictine monks have lived and worked since the year 993. Hear about how the brewery closed at the end of the 19th century then reopened in the restored baroque stables in mid-2012. See the monasterys church of St. Margaret, built 1708-1735 and one of the best architectural examples of Czech baroque, and admire a Roman crypt from 1040 in the church cellar. Enjoy a glass of 'beer tea' at the brewery or a meal at Kltern enk, which not only serves Benediktin, the house beer, but delicious food as well (own cost).

Continue to Strahov Monastery, founded in 1143 by the Royal Canonry of Premonstratensians, making it one of the oldest monasteries of the Premonstratensian Order in the world. The first documentation of beer brewing here comes from the beginning of the 14th century. Todays brewery and restaurant is located on the spot where the new brewery was built in 1628 and operated until 1907. Just beyond the walls of Strahov, located on the hill over Prague Castle, enjoy breathtaking views of the city, made that much more picturesque after a glass of the monastic St. Norberts micro-brew. Afterward, visit the Baroque Strahov Library to discover a collection of around 200,000 volumes (own cost) before heading back to the city center to say goodbye.
