Know More about this tour

After hotel pickup in Hobart by air-conditioned 18-passenger bus, head to Kettering for the 15-minute ferry crossing to Bruny Island. Listen to your guide, a knowledgeable local who is highly trained in the island's wildlife, vegetation and other characteristics, tell you about what to expect during your culinary adventure.

Upon arrival, your tour starts with a short drive to your first destination, Bruny Island Cheese Company. Sit down as a group and enjoy a private meet-and-greet with the head cheese maker to learn how they craft their artisan cheeses from sustainably farmed cow's and goat's milk. See the cheese maturing room, share platters of cheeses and taste hand-crafted ale.

Next up, visit Get Shucked Oysters and enjoy half a dozen oysters per person, freshly shucked by your server, who shares with you the harvesting story. Feel free to snap photos from your vantage point overlooking the waters where the oysters are farmed. Then continue to Bruny Island Berry Farm for a stroll through the berry fields, pluck sweet, juicy berries straight from the patch (in season) and enjoy a berry inspired morning tea and hot tea or coffee.

Refreshed and relaxed, work off some of your food by taking a short walk along a spectacular white-sand beach, and stop at Two Tree Point, the heritage-listed site where Captain Cook replenished water supplies for his ship Endeavor. Nearby, enter an ancient reserve, and look for rare white wallabies, who have few predators on the island and have increased their numbers. You may also spot echidnas and some of the 12 species of endemic birds.

Hop back on your bus to visit Bruny Island Premium Wines for lunch accompanied by a wine of your choice. See the vineyards, sip the fruits of the vine and feast on a seasonal meal that features local products. Be sure to save room for handmade chocolate treats at your next destination, Bruny Island Chocolate Company.

Stop at the Neck, a strip of land connecting the island’s northern and southern sections. Here you can along the deserted beach, dip your feet in the water, see the Truganini Memorial and enjoy sweeping views from the lookout. Conclude your food journey with a glass of award-winning Tasmanian whiskey from the Bruny Island House of Whisky before returning to your Hotel in Hobart.

  • Excellent tour. Good food, great guide and well worth the money.

  • This Tour is Fantastic!!! Mark our tour guide and driver pick me up at 0730hrs is so knowledgeable and friendly from the get go.
The mini bus take up to 20 passenger but we only have 18. The first stop was Oysters farm where you can see how the guys shuck the oyster like a pro, We all have half a dozen each . Then we went to the honey stand where we had the pleasure to samples 6 kind of honeys which is all delicious and we got a small jar to take home. After that part of the package is wine tasting and lunch. The lunch it self was AMAZING and you got to do the wine tasting and which one of the wine tasting you like you can have a free glass with your lunch. The last stop was whiskey bar and that just like icing on the cake.

This is one of the best tour that i have been. Looking forward to come back again next year.

  • Great experience and sight, residents here are really blessed with such serenity. We have a great time with an informative guide.

  • Oh my goodness!!! There are insufficient words to tell you how great this day is. Just do it!!!!

  • The tour was excellent. The tour guide was really informative and funny and really looked after us. The weather was not great, but it did not matter because the food was ample and it was very comfortable ride. Would highly recommend this tour.

  • Wonderful day. It started with being picked up on time to join other happy travellers. Our driver was so informative with his local knowledge and jovial banter.
Our stops at cheese, chocolate, honey stops we're really good but the oyster stop was simply amazing. Not only the were they to die for but they kept bringing out more and more.
Lunch at the winery was delicious whilst we sampled their wines. Finally we stopped at a gin and whisky distillery on our way home. It was an amazing day shared with new friends.
One warning though, Don't eat breakfast before you leave home. Five star day. Thank you . Judy and David Hinchliffe

  • Awesome Tour Guide, and amazing tour

  • We loved Bruny Island-- one of the highlights of our trip to Australia and New Zealand. We tasted fabulous wines and gourmet foods, and loved the scenery and history of this unique island.

  • This was a super-fun gourmet tour by Pennicott Wildness Journey, who did a fantastic job of organizing this trip. Sam, our wonderful guide, was funny with his jokes and very informative about Bruny Island and its history. The 15-minute ferry ride to Bruny Island allowed us a peek of its natural beauty. Then it was time for a feast! From cheese and cider to very yummy Tasmania oysters, and muffins with hot chocolate and this was only the morning!. To work up our appetites for lunch we climbed some 250 stairs to the Truganni Lookout for awesome views of Bruny's the Neck. Lunch with a glass of wine was the best and freshest salmon we have ever tasted! There was also honey, chocolates and whiskey tasting along the way but you will have to experience the amazing food of Tasmania for yourself! A highly recommended tours. Thanks again, Sam, for making this a memorable trip!
