Know More about this tour

Your tour begins with pickup from your Hobart hotel and a scenic drive to the pretty coastal town of Kettering, where you will catch your Bruny Island ferry.

Enjoy the 15-minute cruise on the DEntrecasteaux Channel over to Bruny Island, then travel by air-conditioned minivan to the narrow spit called The Neck connecting the north and south parts of the island, passing oyster farms and grazing properties en route. Your island tour begins with views from Adventure Bay lookout and the Hummock lookout, a significant indigenous site that's home to Truganini Memorial.

Continue to Adventure Bay where your guide will prepare a picnic style morning tea of warm wood fired breads, award winning cheeses and juicy fresh oysters.

Your tour continues over the Mount Mangana Trail and through ancient rainforests with Tree Ferns standing 16-foot (5 meters) high and, keeping an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, wildflowers and the island's unique birdlife.

Make your way to Cape Bruny Lighthouse in the South Bruny National Park for your exclusive group lighthouse tour. The lighthouse is Australia's last vantage point to spot migrating humpback and southern right whales, and an important navigational landmark for ships at sea. The coastal views are among the best in Tasmania with rugged dolerite coastlines looming eerily over the Tasman Sea.

Feeling hungry by now, stop at Bruny Island Hotel for a wonderful lunch featuring regional foods such as a delicious Seafood Chowder with locally caught fish, seafood platters, beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options and the popular slow cooked shoulder of lamb.

The afternoon is all about nature and more food, with stops at Get Shucked for fresh oysters, Bruny Island Fudge Chocolate Shop, Bruny Island Honey Shed and Bruny Island Cheese Company to taste delicious artisan cheeses and see how it is made.

You complete the day with your round-trip ferry to Kettering before returning to Hobart.

I had an amazing day, the guided tour was fantastic, super friendly! Everything was really good, mainly the food we tasted from local producers! I highly recommend this tour!!

Fantastic day trip from Hobart - highly recommended if you have a spare day in Hobart. Jemma was a great host and guide providing lots of information and history of the island as well as amending where we went to suit. Great lunch at the Bruny Hotel as well as cider tastings and a private tour of the Bruny Lighthouse. A tip - For those who like whisky, the Hounds Tooth Whisky Distillery is right next to the Bruny Island Chocolate Company!!

We had a great guide and enjoyed all the foody stops. Lighthouse views beautiful along with Adventure Bay.

Really enjoyed it- quite a relaxing day out. This isn't an adventure safari so if you're looking for hikes and wildlife spotting then this isn't for you. If you're looking for some great sightseeing and wonderful food then you'll love it. If it makes a difference, average age is over 50. Lots of driving involved as well but with the right guide it can be fun.

  • 24-Feb-2020

Sensational views, great local produce tastings
Driver/Guide was interesting, helpful and considerate.
Pickup and drop off made for a very enjoyable day

  • 24-Feb-2020

Good guide who gave very informative commentary. enjoyable tastings albeit a little brief. Might have been better with coffee or tea with morning tastings of oysters and cheese or option thereof.

  • 19-Feb-2020

A fully inclusive day with lots of things to see, guided and driven by an enthusiastic Rob.
Topped off with a great lunch at the Bruny Pub. Loved the morning tea of fresh oysters and cheese.

Nice landscapes and food ok. Just a bit disappointed 'cause i expected a cruise type pennicott to go on the island for watching wildlife, and it was just a short ferry for cars. No need of specific shoes for walks, its a peacefull quiet easy journey. The lighthouse is easy to climb and its visit is nice. Do not expect to meet wildlife, you may cross just one or two wallibies.

It was an OK day...I would not repeat it however. Felt like the tour could be better. The sites were not great and the picnic left a lot to be desired. Most of us did not want oysters. A choice of salmon or oysters would have been nice. Perhaps some olives also. We had bread, 3 cheeses and oysters.

Loved the morning tea with the cheese and oysters, the bread was lovely too. Bought some honey , fudge and cheese to take home. Lunch was very tasty and excellent quality at the pub, they had a variety of wines to choose from to go with lunch and the coffee there is great too.
