Know More about this tour

Our walking tour begins at the Opera House and then a short ride on the Millennium metro out to the Heroes' Sq and City park. There youll have a great introduction to the rich Hungarian history and culture through the chronological line of kings. Then we walk through the City Park to visit the Vajdahunyad castle (outside only), a complex built for the world fair in 1896 displaying typical architecture found throughout Hungary.

Next, a stop off at Szchenyi bath house (with a peek inside when open) to learn about the amazing bath culture this country has to offer. Next we take the Millennium metro back towards the city center and stop off at the end of Andrassy Blvd. where youll hear about the significance the street brought to culture and nobility.

After our city park visit we head over to the St. Stephens Basilica (outside only) before we take a break in a caf for a taste of Hungarys famous pastry called retes which is a traditional type of strudel. Here guests will each get two homemade pastries and a coffee or soft drink (included in the tour). After our refreshment break we head down to the riverside to see the famous blue Danube. Here we will take in the spectacular view of Gellert hill and the Citadel, Buda hills and the Royal Palace as we cross the river via Budapests Chain bridge.

For the final leg of the tour we climb the steps up into the Buda castle District and then wander through the old cobble stone streets and alleys to our finishing point in front of the Matthias church and Fishermans bastion. At the conclusion of the tour the guide will help with ideas, directions and more!

Our walking tours are small personal groups and generally do not have more than 15 participants, making them interactive and personal and giving you plenty of chances to ask questions and get to know your guide plus hit them up for local tips of where to go and what else to do.

Petra our guide was great! She kept a good pace and was very knowledgeable. We walked away with a better appreciate for the history of Budapest/Hungary. We saw all the major showpieces of Budapest and took many picturesque pictures.

This was one of the finest tours I have ever done. Met with most friendly and supportive people during this tour. I actually injured my knee during my trip to Europe. On my special request I was able to reschedule my tour for the next day due to my injury. I was only able to walk with the help of knee immobiliser. On arrival at the meeting point, I was greeted so well and they were even concerned about my injury. Since, it was a walking tour I was bit skeptical whether I will be able to complete this or not. But due to other friendly people and supportive tour guide I was able to see all the attractions even at my slow pace. I have really enjoyed Budapest and it’s beauty but that was only possible because of you guys. Thank you so much for supporting me and asking me time and again how am I feeling. This had really motivated me. Just for Absolute Tour, I am better now, it’s a ligament tear, might undergo a surgery. Big thumbs up to you guys and thank you so much, specially our tour guide, Prata you were so kind, humble and supportive.

Our guide Christina was excellent, with a deep understanding and historical knowledge of her country and it’s people. She made it interesting and didn’t ever bore us. It was a well paced tour, the cafe stop is an absolute treat, particularly on a rainy day! Christina’s English is very fluent which also made the tour more enjoyable. It was a good tour to do on your first day in Budapest. We recommend this tour.

We started our weekend in Budapest with this tour, and we're so pleased we did. Our guide Rebekah was so engaging and clearly loved the city and its history. We learned loads about Budapest and the history of Hungary, and Rebekah was more than happy to answer our questions.
The tour gave us a really good sense of the layout of the city, and we got lots of tips for how to spend the rest of our time there too.
We also had no idea how many different types of strudel there are!!
Thanks Rebekah, we had a great time with you, and we'd highly recommend this tour to anyone starting their trip to Budapest.
