Know More about this tour

Begin your evening in Budapest at either the Danube Palace (Duna Palota), a neo-Baroque building from the 1890s, or the 19th Century Budai Vigado (Hungarian Heritage House) where youll be ushered to your seat for the folk show. Sit back and relax as one of two folk groups either the Danube Folk Ensemble or the Hungaria Folk Ensemble and Orchestra take the stage.

No matter which group is scheduled to perform on your night, you can be sure youll be entertained by some of the best folk performers in Hungary both groups were founded in the 1950s and have shown off their talents around Hungary and abroad! The 30 artists in each ensemble perform choreography based on authentic dances, some of which date back to isolated villages from hundreds of years ago.

As you watch and listen, gain an entertaining understanding of Hungarys heritage through the music, dancing and costumes of the folk show. The show consists of two 40- to 45-minute sections with a brief intermission of ten to fifteen minutes.

When the performance is over, a host will show you to the pier on the Danube for your late night dinner cruise. On board the boat, enjoy a relaxing candlelit atmosphere as you sip a glass of Sparkling wine, wine or beer and a hot buffet dinner of Hungarian and international dishes, presented with a creative touch by an award-winning food sculptor.

During the 1.5-hour cruise along the Danube, admire the twinkling nighttime views of Budapests famous UNESCO World Heritage-listed urban panorama, a series of sites that illustrate the citys fascinating history and culture. Pass the Buda Castle Quarter, the Chain Bridge (Clark dm Square), the Gellrt Baths and Mt Gellrt with its Freedom Monument.

After dinner, head out to the open upper deck of the boat to enjoy more riverside views before returning to the departure point.

  • The best part was the show - crazy energy and talent. I have no idea how they keep that level of energy up for an hour and a half!

  • Very nice folk dancing, boat tour was nice- scenery exceptional, food was good. Lack of communication on hotel pick up and getting to boat after folk show.

  • The Folklore Show was very good but some naration would have added to the experience. Also people taking flash photos and recording with their phones was very distracting. One lady was told by the staff to put it away 4 times. As soon as they walked away she started again. They finally just gave up. The real problems were with the Dinner Cruise. The food was tasteless and lukewarm at best. My wife asked the next morning if the musicians were as bad as she thought and she never complains. They were bad. Also be aware there is no naration on the cruise. I was really surprised because of all of the positive reviews I read before booking. I would suggest booking the Folklore Show and skipping the cruise.

  • Delightful. The whole experience. What a friendly group of highly talented musicians, wonderful enthusiastic dancers. No-one could ask for more. I want to repeat the experience.

  • A week before the events, the folklore show and the boat cruise were changed to separate nights. This resulted in transport only being provided for one evening. It cost in excess of 20 GBP for taxis on the second evening.
The river cruise was very average. The food was not great, the wines were poor quality, the music was too loud and there was no ambience as the boat was crowded. The cruise was booked originally for later in the evening when the buildings would have looked more spectacular. This was a two star cruise.
The folklore show was high quality and very enjoyable.

  • I was really looking forward to both the Folklore Show and the Danube Dinner Cruise by night. I would highly recommend the show, it was wonderful! From the musicians, dancers and costumes to the sound of music, dancing, singing and stomping of feet, defo worth going to see do try to get a seat in the balcony though, much better view at the Danube Palace. Unfortunately the rest of the night went downhill. They really do not know how to cater for lone travellers! After the show, no real organisation. No one to direct you where to go, left standing around, when I made enquiries I was very abruptly told to Go, wait outside!! How rude and not very comforting. When we eventually arrived at the boat I was escorted to my seat a table set for two!!... right at the back of the boat! No photos taken if you are alone not even asked!! Musicians only stop by your table if you are in a group or as a couple, but not if you are alone!! ... Waitor Norbet not very helpful and made me feel like I was a bit of a nuisance when I requested a small bottle of champagne Hungaria Extra Dry 20cl and he informed me that they only had the big bottle, but did not make any other recommendations. I went outside to take some photos but the decking is very small and is where all the smokers go so didn't stay out for too long as it was quite unpleasant. It really was such a relief when the very pleasant young man Peter brought me safely to my taxi for the journey back to my hotel. For the first time on my visit to Budapest I felt really lonely and sad!! I have been here for 3 weeks already. Do NOT do the Danube Dinner cruise if you are travelling alone, at least not the one included in this tour!!

  • we didn't get the folklore dance but enjoyed the organ concert at St. Stephen's Basilica was very enjoyable. The river dinner was very tasty. The lights of Budapest at night was beautiful.

  • Enjoyed the tour and the show was amazing. Worth doing.

  • Fantastic show and unforgettable cruise dinner !
Tour very good organised. We liked everything about the tour. We booked balcony seats which I think was the best choice. We were able to see very well show.
Food provided on the cruise was excellent. For us it unforgettable night seeing Budapest at night so beautifully illuminated.
