Know More about this tour

Your sightseeing begins at the Chain Bridge on the River Danube. As you tour, listen as your guide provides an overview of Hungary’s 1,000-year history.

First, take the Margaret Bridge on a drive over to Buda, the oldest part of the city. Stop in the Castle District and during a short walk, admire the main attractions of the area. See the Matthias Church and stop at the Fisherman's Bastion, from where you can enjoy the beautiful city panoramas.

Next, drive on to Gellért Hill, home to the hilltop Citadel, and drink in the most spectacular view over Budapest. Then, cross the Elisabeth Bridge to Pest and see the famous Central Market Hall and Europe’s largest synagogue.

View the City Park, passing Europe's largest thermal spa baths complex and Budapest Zoo. Afterward, stop at Heroes' Square and see its statues to Hungary’s most famous kings and dukes.

Next, take Andrássy Avenue into downtown Pest, driving by the Hungarian State Opera House and St Stephen's Basilica. Finally, hop out of the bus and enjoy an interior visit to the Hungarian Parliament building. Take a guided tour to admire the neo-Gothic architecture before your tour ends in the city center.

  • The guide was awesome, and the hotel transfer was very nice. We saw Hero Square, took in an incredible view of Budapest, and enjoyed the Parliament tour. However, we did not make it to the Castle District during the tour. Given the time, I think we would have been really rushed if we had tried to go. If there is a longer tour, maybe opt for that one. I wouldn't really recommend this one.

  • Really well organized tour. I was picked up by a taxi from the hotel to the meeting point to meet with 20-25 other guests. We had a nice modern ACed tour bus to take us to the major sights. It is a good intro tour that you should book on your first or second day in Budapest. You can always go back to the sights to spend more time. They don't spend a lot of time in each spot, but give you a good enough overview of it. Definitely book the parliament tour. The building looks fantastic from outside but even more beautiful inside. The tour guide is fluent in English and Spanish and gave the tour in both languages. However she was a bit reluctant to additional questions and answers.

  • Very good toor, guide was excellent.

  • This tour was a Grayline tour. We went to the meeting point by taxi because they did not do a hotel pick up. Look for a Kiosk not an office. We drove around for 1.5 hours while the tour guide said things like this is big street, that is a square, and look at the river. At the first stop, she started to give historical facts about the Nazi and Communist occupation that were inaccurate and untrue. She said things about the Holocaust that were proven to be untrue. When confronted she became testy at best. The 45 minute tour of the Parliament was great! There may be a better way to see Budapest than by a big bus. Look for it.

  • Not a happy camper. Was a cold and rainy day April 18, 2017. We were picked at hotel and taken to a central point to be placed on our tour. The guide changed to tour some because of the rain. No problem. When taking us to the various sites she would led us there then leave. Or not stay with us to get out of the rain. On the way to the last stop we were informed we would not be pickup as the tour was over for the others. We all had to make our way back to our hotels on our own. The last stop Was the parliament building. We were handed off to the parliament tour and they left. Nobody from to tour company or the parliament staff knew where a taxi stand was. So we ended walking in the rain and cold to the hotel until we found a cab. No not use this company period. Unusually cold spring. Not there fault, it's how they handled it.

  • My review excludes the Parliament tour, which was conducted by the staff at the Parliament and was great, the tour company simply provided the fast pass tickets. The city tour left a lot to be desired, and besides the Parliament house visit, the best part of the tour was the great people we met from Minnesota and England and not the tour itself. The tour seemed a little unorganized, with the biggest issue being that we could not hear the tour guide ether on the bus or at the tour locations. The guide spoke so softly and unlike other tours there were no headphones to assist with hearing. Since he spoke so softly, the guide also needed a better way of identifying themselves in a crowded tourist location, for example a flag like other tour companies do. I was also disappointed that we also did not stop off at Galert Hill which was listed as part of the itinerary, I was really looking forward to viewing Budapest from that vantage point. Overall I would skip the Grand City Tour and just do a Parliament House tour.

  • Our tour guide, Helen, was a nice woman but determined to 'get through ' her information. Despite trucks rolling by, she continued to talk. Her English was difficult to understand and the delivery sounded as if it were from a textbook. We did not learn too much because of the communication difficulties and our guide's rote delivery.
It was also difficult to see what the guide was talking about because the bus was moving.
We do not recommend this tour.

  • Very well organised tour. Knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Visit to the Hungarian Parliament also informative and interesting to see inside such a beautiful building.

  • The bus was a large, open bus, and we got front seats, so we had great views of Budapest as we were driven around. We first visited Pest, then went to Buda, and visited the castle there. Awesome cathedral and another plague column! We purchased the deluxe tour, which included the Parliament building - wow, what an incredible interior!

  • This is a simple, well conducted tour that takes one to all the important sights and buildings of Budapest. Our guide was knowledgeable and thorough and explained very little detail in a most comprehensive manner. No visit to Budapest can be complete without such a tour. The visit to the Hungarian Parliament was the piece de' resistance of the tour. Could consider combining this tour along with the 'Danube Bend Day Trip from Budapest' tour by skipping Visegrad altogether..
