Overview

Lets walk around in the 7th District Jewish Quarter of Budapest and explore the rich history of the Hungarian Jewish Community. We also show you the changes that took place in the district since the 1990s and how it has become the bohemian quarter of the city regaining slowly its old character as well. On this tour, we visit the three historical synagogues: the Dohny street, the Kazinczy Street Orthodox Synagogue and even the recently renovated Rumbach Street Synagogue. The tour will take you to other sites as well related to the turbulent history of the Jewish community living in this part of Budapest. We even take you down to the Shoes on the Danube Memorial near the Parliament building. Also, to introduce you to other parts of the Jewish heritage we won't miss tasting our special and traditional Hungarian Jewish pastry.

P.S: Please note that if you would like to book a tour on Fridays or Saturdays, we cannot enter the Synagugoes due to their religious function.

Suzy was truly amazing at sharing her knowledge, explaining the history of Budapest and the Jewish community and delivering an unforgettable experience. Not only did Suzy really know her stuff - but she was also a ton of fun to hang out with! Thanks for a great experience Suzy!!

Suzy was so knowledgable! She made the tour meaningful and memorable - particularly the history of the Holocaust and the story of Carl Lutz. Of course, the stop for coffee and cake was also a highlight!

Learned a lot about the Jewish population in Budapest that I did not know. We felt we were learning important history.

Suzy Szoke was our guide. As soon as we signed up for the tour, Suzy reached out to us to find out more about us, our interests, and our capabilities. Ms. Szoke was very knowledgeable and took us to all the places we requested and more. She made the experience very meaningful and memorable. We would highly recommend Ms. Suzy Szoke as your tour guide in Budapest. You will not be disappointed.

Ho soggiornato nel quartiere ebraico di Budapest, è vicinissima al centro e come zona è ricca di locali. Assolutamente da visitare la gtande Sinagoga con ingresso a pagamento ma ne vale la pena e al cui intorno si trova un museo

Suzy is an excellent tour guide. She was flexible about when and where to meet to begin our tour. But it is clear she had a plan and a narrative she wanted to share, and was quite knowledgeable about her subject. She supplemented her comments with images she has stored in her iPad, beautifully complementing her history. The walking was not vigorous so all ages should be fine on this tour. And all will also enjoy the stop she makes at one of her favorite pastry and coffee shops for a treat she includes. I feel very rewarded for having taken this tour.

You need a good 4 Hours and help to see everything and understand the history of this tour. This was a lot of walking and listening to our guide who was fabulous and knowledgeable . The Dohany Zsinagoga was amazing and understanding the reason why everything is placed where it is now. Our guide Suzy Szoke could not have been more serious in her explanations of the true history.

On a 4 day visit to Budapest, my wife and I took several walks around the city. For a 4 hour tour, Suzy was our guide, and an excellent one she is. When one of our first questions revealed a giant gap in our knowledge of Hungarian history, Suzy launched right off with an organized overview. Her English is excellent, with an unnoticeable accent and an extensive vocabulary. She knows the streets of the city well, took us on a well balanced tour, explained each of the stops in detail, and dropped us off at a very good restaurant for lunch.
