Know More about this tour

This night time walking tour will take you away from the hustle and bustle of Pest, to the charming, magical and most intimate places of the city of Budapest, where you will be amazed by the wonderful nightly panorama from top of the hill to the “Pearl of Danube”. We’ll go back in time, to a dark and hostile time; when Hungarian rulers faced invading armies and reveal the despicable actions of two mad figures: Vlad Dracula and Elizabeth Báthory. These silent streets and sinister corners have for centuries been witnesses to bloody events and stories of cruel people.

This history tour guided by a narrator, is ideal for people who love dark history and mythology and vampires, as well as for those who enjoy walking along desolate streets where folklore and superstition lurk in the fringes of everyday life.

See the less traveled routes and streets of the Buda castle and their foreboding and hear untold stories about Budapest’s most prominent landmarks and the remnants and legends of the old Quarter, tales of cruelty and death and the vampires, these left in their wake.

Experience Budapest in a way you will never forget.

  • Para tener una experiencia diferente en un sitio que hay que conocer vale la pena tomar este tou

  • It was a dark and stormy night! The weather did not cooperate, but we were prepared for it because of reading a review of the tour before we went. That was very helpful to have layers of clothing, rain slickers and umbrellas! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable in historical facts and was quite pleasant. The Castle District was fantastic and, despite the weather, we had a great time. I would recommend it highly!

  • Very good tour definitely worth the money. Our guide was very good, she gave a lot of information. The night time view was beautiful! Wear your best walking shoes.

  • It was an excellent trip - though the weather was awful- poured with rain.. it was a small group - 4 guide... due to heavy rain - it was hard to hear her...and see her...but she was good
Interesting stories but the vampire story was bit misleading hahahha... be good if weather is inclement that there be some cheap ponchos provided... it was hard walking on slippery wet cobblestones up the hills- but the setting
    was appropriate :

  • We were in Budapest at the end of a Viking River cruise. The Viking staff had never heard of this tour, and neither had the Budapest Hilton staff where we stayed, so we were a little concerned. No need for concern, though. Our guide met us at exactly 9 p.m. as planned, and our tour was very interesting on a beautiful evening. She was dressed in a black cape and carried a lantern, setting the mood. The Buda Castle was dimly lit, and she stopped several times to relate a story. There was a lot of dirty laundry about former occupants of the castle and city which led into stories of the dark personalities who had at one time occupied the castle and did very gruesome things to other people. The most famous, of course, was Vlad Dracula, who wasn't really a vampire but was blood thirsty. Our guide's stories related where the vampire legends came from and how they spread. The castle is beautiful, and the view of the city at night is amazing.

  • We were very glad we booked this trip and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Yet it could be improved, simply by managing expectations better. The photograph accompanying the trip suggests a more dramatic experience. Yes, our informative and sweet guide had a dark cloak on and carried a lamp, but she was in no way dressed to play a part as the photo suggests. It was more the night-time equivalent of carrying an umbrella for us to follow. Many on the walk were expecting to have other 'players' leap out and frighten them in the way of a horror experience. What we actually got was a good historical talk and walk around the fabulous castle walls and buildings on the hill with the most marvellous night-time views. Because Hungary's history includes some colourfully gory episodes, those stories were included too, but not told in a frightening or dramatic way. I was happy, although I did think the experience was a little more expensive than it should be.

  • Great tour guide! Very informative, nice view of the city at night

  • Cool to see the castle. However, the tour was just average.

  • If you want a bit of history and legend, this is perfect. The guide was really good at showing us around and telling all the stories from the area. She was well informed and could answer any question we might have. We highly recommend this way of experiencing the Castle area!

  • Our tour guide was knowledgeable and was able to tell a story, but sadly lacked the ability to set a scene and even be remotely spooky. She spent a lot of time chatting to another couple about where they came from etc and I'm afraid the tour lost any sense of dark history. Frankly I wouldn't recommend this tour. It was bordering on dull.
