Know More about this tour

Your evening concert takes place at St Stephens Basilica, one of the most beautiful neoclassical buildings in Budapest and perhaps the most important church in Hungary.
Adapted by Miklos Teleki, one of Hungarys most famous organ artists, the concert includes several arias performed by esteemed musicians such as Kolos Kovts, an award-winning oratorio singer, and Eleonra Krusic, known for her European performances. Settle into your Category 1 (front-row) or Category 2 (middle-row) seat and enjoy the 70-minute performance (no intermission). You'll be wowed by the excellent acoustics of the church as you listen to some of history's most famous classical pieces such as Ave Maria and Agnus Dei (see sample concert below in the Itinerary section).
Concert plus Dinner:
Whether you fancy a late dinner or a scenic setting for after-dinner drinks, a Danube River cruise is a great ending to your night in Budapest. Following the concert, travel by taxi to Budai Vigad to board a boat for your 1.5-hour late dinner cruise. Enjoy the candlelit atmosphere as you sip a glass of Sparkling wine, followed by wine or beer, and enjoy a buffet dinner that's presented with a creative touch by an award-winning food sculptor (see sample menu in the Itinerary below).
After dinner, head to the open upper deck. The star of your cruise is Budapest's UNESCO World Heritage-listed urban panorama, a series of sites that illustrate the citys history. Pass the Buda Castle Quarter, the Chain Bridge (Clark dm Square), the Gellrt Baths and Mt Gellrt with its Freedom Monument. Finish back at Budai Vigad.

  • The music and the acoustics were great. The only downside when we went was that it was very warm inside the church. If you are interested in this one, I would advise buying the VIP for the sole reason that you get to sit up front. Otherwise, you get the very back of the church for general seating.

  • Worth buying up to the forward row of seats.

  • The organ concert played by Miklos Teleki was ABSOLUTELY fabulous 5 Stars. We have heard many organists over the years and he is the best. I would say that the meal on the Danube was just 3 stars but the cruise itself was lovely. I would recommend doing the organ concert separately and select a cruise with no food option as another separate event. I did not realize we could have the option of selecting the organ and cruise with a drink only.
Rick Steve's commentary about skipping a food cruise is right on. your food dollar is much better spent in a lovely restaurant rather than on this cruise. However, the cruise at night is a very good choice, esp. if it is a lovely night as we had

  • An absolutely wonderful way to experience being in the church. Such talented musicians and vocalist.

  • We enjoyed the concert and cruise despite bad weather on the day.

  • Our visit to the Organ Concert at St Stephen's Basilica was the high light of our ten day visit to Budapest. The live performance in the Cathedral with the organ, flute and voice far exceeds that what can be experienced listening to a CD.
One can understand how the composers and musicians sought to create music in such a beautiful setting that uplifts the soul of all who hear and experience the performance.

  • Amazing concert.

  • It's impossible to rate this combined event fairly - the concert was excellent 5 stars and the transfer to the cruise was so badly organised - we felt like a herd more than 50 people beign run through freezing streets of Budapest with no info or whatsoever - worst experience we've ever had long lines, people not knowing where and when we were going to board and if the boat was going to have enough space for everyone to be sheltered from the icy cold. We were so disappointed and cold that being already on the bank of Danube we decided to return to the hotel so the curise itself cannot be rated. Please avoid booking these two events together, I believe it is absolutely not worth it!!!

  • The performance was outstanding. The chruch organ sounded so fantastic and the vocal performers were top notch.

  • The concert in this lovely, grand church featured both Hungarian and international classics. Our program, which ran on Thursday evenings included works by Vivaldi, Bach, Albinoni, Mozart, Schubert, Listz and Bizet. The musicians included the organist, a flautist as well as one of Hungary's most famous concert and oratorio singers. A delightful evening sure to be enjoyed by any music lover.
