Know More about this tour

Discover two beautiful Andalucian cities while your cruise ship waits in the Cadiz port on this small group shore excursion. Join your local guide in a comfortable minivan and enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour of Cadiz. Take in views of Plaza España, the Falla Theater, Santa Catalina and San Sebastian castles, and the Cadiz cathedral. Your local guide will take you through 3,000 years of history and fill your mind with interesting anecdotes of the city.

Next, head to the city of Jerez, a haven for lovers of wine and horses. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and visit the beautiful Alcazar (included), a Moorish fortress that dates back to the 11th century. Then head to Jerez's historical center to admire the oldest houses of the city.

Next up is the highlight of your tour – the Andalucian horse show. The 1.5-hour show includes choreographed routines in which the horses perform several types of moves to the rhythm of beautiful Spanish music.

Back in your minivan, head to a local bodega (Spanish for ‘winery’) and get ready for Jerez's other claim to fame – sherry! Learn about sherry making from a winery guide as you visit the vineyards. Then enjoy a tasting of sherry and other wines of the region with tapas.

End your shore excursion with free time to shop or grab a drink (own expense) in Jerez before making your own way back to the Cadiz port.

In the unlikely event that there is no horse performance scheduled the day of your tour, you will instead learn about the traditional Andalucian horse training at a renowned equestrian school.

Traveler Reviews

This was 1 of the most expensive excursions of the trip. Yet we paid it thinking that the Tour Operator had been carefully screened by Viator, was trust worthy and was charging fairly. Their excuse for not showing up was that there was no Horse Show on the day we were there (Wednesday). However, they knew this because the shows at this Equestrian Center have been scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays ONLY for a very long time. They knew we could not go any other day because we were on a Cruise. They still took our money (over $200!). A Cab Driver took us to the same Equestrian Center (which was spectacular and worth seeing even without the show), for a tour of the city and a Spanish lunch at a lovely bay front restaurant (at our request). He only charged us $135 (round trip) and we paid $11 per person for admission to the Equestrian Center and the lunch (which we also treated him to). He saved the day!
