North of Israel is possibly the most beautiful part of the country. It is a country of waterfalls, rivers and forests. But it is also a country of Natural and Historical Reserves. During this tour, you will visit three National Reserves in this area Caesarea Philippi, one of the most important places for the Christianity, and former capital built by Philip, son of the King Herod; Dan National Reserve, with its brooks and forests, but also with the remnants of the best preserved Jewish Temple which used to compete with that in Jerusalem; and Nimrod Fortress National Reserve, with its huge and perfectly preserved Citadel overlooking the Golan Heights.

Know More about this tour

Your tour starts with the pick up at your Tel aviv hotel. Well continue further North, until we reachTel Dan National Park which is a both a Biblical archaeological site and a miraculous natural wonderland.

At the heart of the park is Tel Dan, the archeological site of the ancient Israel Kingdom capital, Laish with its Temple which successfully competed with the Jerusalem one, for over 200 years.

The noisy Dan River, one of the sources of the Jordan, rushes through the reserve, creating an atmosphere of a real Natural Paradise of unforgettable beauty.

Our next stop will be Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus demanded to know of His disciples who people were saying He was. Caesarea Philippi became a capital of the North of Israel under the rule of Philip, the son of King Herod. His palace has been excavated and presents a great example of the Jesus time architecture. Banias is also a birthplace of the Greek God Pan and till today, this Natural Reserve has plenty of outstanding old Greek and Roman Temples scattered among noisy brooks and green forests.

Our next and uppermost place of visit will be Nimrod Fortress, settled beautifully at the slopes of the Golan Heights. Built by the Moslem fighters, occupied by the Crusades and turned later into a home for the deadly Assassins, even today this huge fortress captures your imagination. Nimrod Fortress used to be a gatekeeper of the Golan Heights and has seen endless battles. Walking along its walls and climbing its towers makes you really breathless.

From here, we shall turn back, to the South, on our way to the Tiberias Lake, and further on back to Tel aviv.
