We visited the museum on July 5. There is a parking lot under the museum (13$ for a day). This is a museum with a lot of text and artifacts. Don't expect big dioramas. We loved an employee's explanation of amputation in the 18th century.

I have to admit that I knew next to nothing about the history of Canada and thanks to this museum I now appreciate the contribution of this great nation to world history - especially the WW2! Very interesting and organized museum - easy to navigate, many details to read if you are interested in a particular artifact or subject. The staff could be the best and most friendly I've ever met in a museum - always ready to help with a smile or...just smile and say "hi" Overall great place to visit on any day - not just when it rains!

A very interesting museum detailing Canada's involvement in conflicts throughout the ages. Lots of artifacts to look at and read about, there are some interactive activities. My nephew enjoyed playing a game with a member of staff in truig to get merchant ships from Canada to the UK without the U-Boats sinking them all. Plenty places to sit and take a break, as the place is huge. Intesting place to visit, even if subject matter isn't to your taste.

The war museum is a very well presented history of the various wars that formed Canada and the two world wars that Canada played such an important role in. Starting with the warring Indian tribes, to the French arrival, the British arrival and the Britain/ French battles with Indian allies. And the war with America that established Canada separate from the US. The basement level with the cannons, artillery and tanks was interesting. Only complaint was with the lack of ckear signage re the entrance during current construction outside. So if you walk there signage is lacking

Best museum we have ever visited! American family of 4, ages 41 to 14. The staff, exhibits, amount of information was incredible. If you're into war history, this is an absolute must see. I recommend 2 hours minimum, but if you're someone who likes to read everything, you could easily spend 4+ hours there. Ticket price online was slightly cheaper.

Deep and intense activity about the Canadian war! Nice number of tanks and armour! Interactive videos and sounds well placed!

All the little details to uniforms worn by different ranking soldiers and detailed medals, weapons etc. I like seeing the surgical equipment that was available to the medical team during the wars.

What a fabulous museum. It is well laid out, chronologically through Canada's conflicts, making it easy to navigate and understand. I learnt a lot and found myself engrossed in the information and artifacts, of which there are many. My personal "favourite" was one of Hitler's parade cars. Awful but a fascinating piece of history. Each artifact was clearly explained and the personal stories behind them were fascinating. We spent 7 hours here and I don't know where the time went. Parking was $13 for the day but there was plenty of it and it was easy to find. The cafe was really good too, sensibly priced with a good choice of hot and cold food and drinks. Not to be missed if you are visiting Ottawa!

Only had an hour and thought it would be enough. I'm not normally interested in history but our tour guide recommended it. Did not disappoint! Could have easily and happily spent 2-3 more hours here.
