Know More about this tour

The Needles District offers awe-inspiring landscapes and scenic vistas at every turn. Admire towering multicolored rock formations, ancient rock art, desert landscapes dotted with cactus and the vibrant blue southwestern sky. Keep an eye out for a variety of critters including birds, lizards, mule deer and big horn sheep, and enjoy the scent of pinyon, juniper and sage brush in the desert air.
Your guide expertly maneuvers the 4WD over Elephant Hill, known as one of the most challenging 4WD trails in southeastern Utah. Pass Devil's Kitchen and cruise down Devil's Lane before encountering SOB Hill, another challenge to the driving skills of your guide.
At midday, enjoy a delicious buffet-style picnic lunch at a gorgeous viewpoint. Afterward, have the option to hike the Joint Trail to the spacious meadows of Chesler Park, one of Canyonlands' most spectacular spots. Expect to walk a 3-mile loop on a well-groomed trail that passes between enormous boulders and side canyons. The trail has a good walking surface and steep uphill pitch in parts, making for a challenging hike suitable for strong hikers. Or skip the hike and simply relax at the vehicle with time to soak up the beauty around you. Either way, your 4WD tour takes you to some of the more remote parts of the Canyonlands so that you can experience this stunning landscape firsthand.
In an area filled with challenging mountain passes, technical terrain and plenty of level 2, 3 and 4 hikes, the Rock Art Sites of Moab offer travelers easy access to ancient drawings scattered along paths even a novice can navigate.
After a full day of exploring by 4WD, your guide returns you to your starting point in Moab to end your tour.

This was truly a magical day. Matt is an incredible guide. We loved every minute of the education, experience, hike, lunch, conversation. Worth the time and money to have this gift of knowledge and experience at Needles. Book Matt!

We used Navtek Tours to visit The Arches and Canyonland National Parks. The 4x4 tour was quite an experience for us city dwellers. Devin was our tour guide, and he had a wealth of knowledge and information. We learned so much! Canyonland was our favorite. We highly recommend Navtek and Devin!

Wow! This tour was absolutely amazing. Matt was a fun and knowledgeable guide who is a great 4x4 wheel driver- these roads are INSANE! The hike was super fun, and the lunch was delicious. Highly recommend this tour and this company! The hike that you do is a portion of a much longer, 11 mile hike that you CAN get to by regular car. The only way to get to the Joint Trail is to take 4x4 or hike the 11 miles full trip.

What an epic adventure! Our guide Matt was full of great information and had an awesome sense of humor. Have you ever seen a Diamond Billed Rock Pecker? We would do this tour again and again, we had a blast.

Highly recommend. The views are out of this world! The guide Matt is a highly experienced driver. This was my first time in a 4x4 on a very difficult route, and he managed to make it not scary. His driving skills really deserve 10 starts!

This tour was incredibly scenic. Buzz was a wonderful guide, full of information about geology, history and the environment. He was also a superb driver - I would not have wanted to drive on those tracks! If it were possible to balance the experience a little more towards walking and away from driving that would have suited me, as you spend a lot of time in the vehicle. Also, it would be nice to have a few more stops to take photographs, as you pass a lot of amazing scenery in the vehicle.

This was a fantastic tour. I never would have imagined what we did going over elephant back. The tour guide was skillful, reassuring and knowledgeable. He had an expansive knowledge of the history. He let us hike at our own pace which he assured us was good for people of our age (68 & 70), so he used flattery as well. This is one of the best tours I have ever been on. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is able. Cant think of a bad thing to say.
