Know More about this tour

The world’s oldest surviving tropical rainforest, Daintree, meets the greatest living tropical reef, the Great Barrier Reef, at Cape Tribulation. Nowhere else on Earth do two World Heritage–listed natural sites exist side by side, and you’ll have ample time to enjoy this paradise on your day trip from Cairns.

After hotel pickup, begin your tour with a scenic coastal drive to Port Douglas along far north Queensland’s great ocean road, which provides panoramic views over the Coral Sea. Heading north, your first stop is Mossman Gorge, the southern sector of Daintree National Park. Carved out by the mountain waters of the Mossman River, which winds through large granite boulders, the gorge is bordered by lush green forest. Participate in an Australian ‘Welcome to Country’ event with the area’s traditional owners, the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people, who cleanse you of evil spirits with a smoke ceremony and apply traditional rainforest body paint to your skin. Then enjoy a refreshing swim in the cascading waters.

Continuing North, arrive at the Daintree River, and if you select the cruise option during booking, you will head out on the river for a wildlife cruise. You might spot a crocodile while learning about the fragile ecosystem of this serpent-like river system.

Next, have lunch at Cape Trib Beach House dining on the beach with toes in the sand (weather permitting). Soak up the vibes by the ocean while you refuel for the afternoon ahead.

On the way back to Cairns, explore this ancient rainforest environment on a tour along the Marrdja Botanical Boardwalk with a highly trained guide who provides rainforest interpretation. Marvel at the diversity of vegetation, from low-lying ferns and shrubs to the massive rainforest canopy and even mangrove ecosystems, all in one short easy walk. Then head to Cape Tribulation Beach, where the rainforest meets the reef. This is one of the best photo ops of the day and the ideal place to be wowed by the natural beauty of this little corner of the planet.

Then make a pit stop at Floravilla, home to 26 flavors of locally made ice cream including dragonfruit, coconut ginger, black sapote, and goji berry with rainforest honey (ice cream at own expense).

Stop for a photo opportunity at the Alexandra Range lookout (Walu Wugirriga), which provides views over the Daintree River, its rainforest delta, and out to the Coral Sea.

Then hop back on your tour bus for the return journey to Cairns, including a quick drive through Port Douglas, a picturesque beachside village with a laidback atmosphere and many bars and cafes. Your day trip ends with drop-off at your pickup location.

  • Very good tour. Our tour guide was very pleasant. A lot of time in the SUV but worth it. Recommend this tour.

  • Excellent guide - very good knowledge of all areas on the trip including history.

  • Chris was a fantastic driver and guide. He was really informative and helpful. The whole day was an amazing experience. The world heritage rainforest is spectacular.

  • The guide was fun and the places were wonderful.

  • We were 3 friends from Spain.
We had a great time on this tour! but the weather wasn't so good....Special mention to our tour guide/driver The mad hatter, the best guide ever!!! Since he picked us up at 7 in the morning until 8 in the afternoon talking, making jokes, very friendly and too much knowledge!! Thanks for make our trip unforgettable!! :

  • The guide was bad. we were never taken to Cape tribulation. We came all the way from Sri Lanka to see the rain forest meeting the great barrier reef. No we by passed it. As most passengers were foreigners they did not notice it. The guide / driver was flirting with a girl even when he was driving. This was very dangerous. He was not realising what was hapening because he was planing the night with the girl.
I have traveled with viator in Italy- Rome, Catania to the mount Edna, Melbourne- philip island , Great barrier reef and green island, great ocean road, Ayas rock sun rise and sun set and many more. Never was I taken for a ride like this.
We visited mossman, rain forest, river on the boat and lunch at the cape hotel, look out but never to cape tribulation. After flying for over hours i go back without seeing cape tribulation . Dr M. perera

  • We were able to go to several sights during this tour, however it seemed very rushed. We had about a 45 minute time limit at each location, which hardly gave you any time to explore. If you have time, I'd recommend an overnight tour to daintree because it is a very beautiful area.

  • We loved it. Had a great day: rainforest walks, riverboat lots of croc siteings, kangaroo burgers for lunch.

  • The bus pickup we arranged from our hotel was 20 minutes later than the scheduled time.

The confirmation and tour information stated that there should not be more than 14 people on the tour-- there ended up being 22 on the way out and 20 on the way back. This nearly doubled the pick up time in the morning, and significantly increased the wait in cues and our availability to get on the transfer buses at Mossman Gorge. Because of the added people, late pickup, and added time of picking up the extra passengers, we only ended up only having 15 minutes at Mossman Gorge from getting out of the bus to getting it back on-- didn't get much time to explore the area. This also changed the mood in our tour guide as he was getting anxious/agitated to try and get us back on schedule.

River cruise was nice: saw a baby crocodile, adult crocodile, and a snake in a tree! It was also beautiful views and the boat driver was very informative on local vegetation and history.

At Cape Tribulation we had 45 minutes, to eat lunch and walk around. Beautiful area. Stopped at the ice cream shop on the way back to Cairns. Due to the number of people, we didn't have time to hang out outside and enjoy, we had to order and take it on the bus.

All in all, beautiful areas, wish we had more time. There was more time sitting on a bus than out exploring. In my opinion, it is too much to try and fit in one day. I read similar reviews stating the same, but was hopeful for a positive experience. Ultimately I was disappointment and would not do the tour again. Instead, I would rent a car or break it out in to multiple different trips over different days.

  • Very beautiful rainforest , nice guide, but too many pick up and drop off, they mixed day tour and overnight tour together. full day trip, i think only 2-3 hours in the forest, 8-9 hours on the bus.
