Know More about this tour

The archaeological site of Caral is among Perus most impressive ruins and makes a popular day trip from nearby Lima. The UNESCO World Heritage listed site covers an area of around 60 hectares in the arid Supe Valley and was first inhabited between 2600 BCE and 2000 BCE.

Although initially discovered back in 1948, recent excavations of Caral revealed an elaborate complex of temples, sunken plazas and some of the largest terraced pyramids in the world, leading archeologists to ponder the possibility of Caral being the fabled Mother City of ancient civilizations in the Americas. Now open to the public, the site has garnered acclaim for its beautifully preserved ruins and intriguing collection of artifacts, which include a quipu (a unique knot system used by ancient Andean civilizations) and a number of musical instruments fashioned from animal bones, but significantly, no trace of warfare or weaponry.

It’s a long drive to go with a guide who clearly had never been to the site before and knew very little/next to nothing about the site. His English was poor but that would have been tolerated if he knew what he was doing. He misrepresented/misinterpreted parts of the site and kept repeating the same very general information at each station. Had little to say during the drives. Very good driver but otherwise we might as well have been on our own, reading the signs. Booked this well in advance so not impressed by being saddled with someone who did not know what they were doing. Never again with this outfit. I have used other tour companies in Peru and not had this experience.

Wonderful day trip in Caral! Our tour guide, Yahira, was friendly and extremely informative. We were driven in comfort by Juan José.

This was an amazing tour! You can’t go to Lima without visiting Caral! Yahaira from Haku Tours was the best tour guide. She was very knowledgable about the subject matter and she was fun to talk with. Her English was amazing and she knew a lot of interesting facts about Caral, the region and about Peru. I would book another tour with her any day!

Caral is such an important historic site few visit as of 2022. While it certainly is a hike to get to, the area is so well maintained, and the site itself is truly inspiring. I would highly recommend going if you have the opportunity!

Amadeo and Elio are a great team. My wife and I were visiting from Canada and these two accompanied us to Caral. Amadeo was our English speaking guide and Elio our driver. These two are first-class all the way. Amadeo's English is nearly flawless. He is clearly a very intelligent guy and very personable. There wasn't a question (and there were a lot) that Amadeo didn't answer. We visited during COVID and both Amadeo and Elio wore their masks the whole time and both guys are double vaccinated. My wife and I felt very safe and well taken care. Caral is an amazing place to visit. I recommend seeing it if you're visiting Peru. In my opinion, there is no better time to visit Peru than now. Because of COVID my wife and I had Amadeo, the tour guide and Caral to ourselves. It was a truly unforgettable experience and we are very thankful that we got to spend the day with 2 very nice gentleman. Thank you Haku Tours, Amadeo and Elio.
