We went on this tour on the morning of July 12. It was a very small group just us three and our guide, Victoria, so it was practically a private tour. We enjoyed ourselves, and Victoria had plenty of stories to tell about the background of the various food shops, traders and eateries. Overall we were very satisfied with the tour. Our only grouse was that at the end of the tour we asked her to recommend a good place for lunch all that walking worked up quite an appetite, and when we found the place, it didn't was somewhat disappointing it was more like a bar than a restaurant.
We loved this tour! It was the highlight of our trip. It was fun and interesting. We learned so much about the Catalonia culture, Danny was an amazing tour guide. As a chef, he had a special way of describing the food we were tasting. We went to 12 places and drank and ate! Danny even recommended places to have dinner the following night.
We LOVED this tour! Raquel and Irene went out of their way to give us great information as we walked from one interesting locally owned Gracia food establishment to another. We ate, we drank, and we had fun learning so much about the food and the neighbourhood. It was well paced and delicious. As a follow up Raquel sent out a long email recapping the stops and making more suggestions. Much appreciated! I would recommend taking this tour at the beginning of your stay so that you can enjoy your new knowledge and confidence when you go out and eat on your own.
Danny was a fantastic guide - a great food tour plus cultural and historical introduction to Barcelona. Highly recommended
A 10. Renees knowledge of Catalunyan cuisine mixed in with hand-picked, family run restaurants was informative and intimate. English being her first language meshed well with Jamas journalistic background. He shared his knowledge of Catalunyas rich history and his love of his neighbourhoods we walked through. Their combined enthusiasm and knowledge made this tour choice enjoyable and memorable.
Norah was fantastic, she lives in the area that we visited on our foodie tour and it kind of felt like being out with a friend as we walked into each place, chatted with the hosts and sampled the treats on hand. It was lovely, and we are planning on coming back and doing it again..another experience on the road to happiness!
Fantastic!! Thanks Ester!! Great to see the real Barcelona in the Eixample district with just a small group! Enjoyed all the local businesses and Ester was great! Highly recommended! One of our favourite memories of Barcelona!!
