The majority of the experience felt chaotic. Pick up was smooth and food was great! Everything else was ok. At first you are assigned a tour guide, but then it changes depending on the language you speak. It would have been fine, but I felt lost half the time and the tour guides were not that attentive. I had to keep finding one to explain to me what I should expect or do next. Secondly, I’ll have to admit Vietnam is not known for snorkeling, therefore that bit was a bit disappointing. That is on me, I should have done some research. I recommend you save your money and just go to the beach in Hoi An.

We booked this last minute and traveled with my husband and two college aged sons. The transportation was all great, and our tour guide was from Cham Island and charming, but the itinerary was bizarre and ill-communicated. He gave us a tour of Cham Island (our family went on our own and met back up with the group). Then we went to a beach so that some of the Vietnamese tourists could get changed (this could have been communicated earlier so that this stop was unnecessary). We made it to the snorkeling area, were given really dated masks but alas the coral was dead and there was nothing to see. Then we went back to the second beach and ate lunch and then hung out at that beach for a while. This was an inexpensive tour and we had a good time, but definitely not what we expected.

The tour operator communicated details of the excursion via Whatsup which really helped with relieving anxiety about the activity. The pick up van was comfortable. The dock area was clean and we were immediately met by our guide. The 30 min speed boat ride was not uncomfortable for what it was and captain and mate were very helpful. We were able leave our own snorkel gear, towels and change of clothing in the speed boat as we toured the fishing village which did not come with much commentary. Expect some rain. Expect a lot vendors. We got back on the speedboat to beautiful seemingly secluded beach where we were allowed to change for swimming or snorkeling. Some remained on that beach while the rest of us we taken around the island for snorkeling. They provide masks and snorkels of very poor quality; we had our own. No need for fins. Coral looks like it is coming back. We saw a fair number of fish species, but not a lot of fish. We still enjoyed the experience. We were taken back to the beach where there were bathrooms and showers. We were then served a family style meal eaten family style and at our leisure. It was quite a spread. We did have pay for drinks including bottled water - very inexpensive. We began our with the pickup at 8:45 am (last stop for our van) and return to the dock at 2:30 pm. Due traveling with a 4 mo old granddaughter (brave son and DIL), the operator made special arrangements for own car back to the hotel. The other Vietnamese tourist and an Indian newlywed couple got on their waiting van. We have told that this was the starting of their high season, but the Chinese tourists have just started booking. I believe that means more crowds to come but that will be true for all over Vietnam.
