Know More about this tour

207 Km. drive from the middle of Chiang Mai city to Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. Part art studio, part museum, part home, Baan Dam is an eclectic mix of traditional northern Thai buildings interspersed with some outlandish modern designs. Baan Dam is a thought-provoking combination of sanuk, the surreal and the sombre and whilst its fair to say that some of the artwork and themes on display wont be to everybodys liking, Id still recommend checking out the Black House if you are visiting Chiang RaiTotal driving round trip on the road 5 hours
Rong Khun Temple is unique from other temples in that it has been constructed entirely in a radiant white color with sparking reflections from mirrored glass mosaics embedded in the white plaster. The temple is the idea of Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat, one of Thailand most renowned artists, who wanted to build a temple all in white to signify the purity of Lord Buddha. The artist continues to puts his religious belief and desire to enrich Buddhism in Thailand into his contemporary art design.
The Golden Triangle is the area where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet at the confluence of the Ruak and Mekong rivers. The name "Golden Triangle"coined by the CIA is commonly used more broadly to refer to an area of approximately 950,000 square kilometres (367,000 sq mi) that overlaps the mountains of the three adjacent countries.Along with Afghanistan in the Golden Crescent, it has been one of the most extensive opium-producing areas of Asia, and of the world, since the 1950s. Most of the world's heroin came from the Golden Triangle until the early 21st century when Afghanistan became the world's largest producer
Chiang Rai Blue Temple or Wat Rong Seua Ten is located in Rong Suea Ten in the district of Rimkok a few kilometers outside Chiang Rai. It is a recent temple which is still under construction even if its main hall is now completed. It is above all its magnificent blue interior with a large white Buddha that marks the spirits. The paintings are reminiscent of the style of what you can see inside the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun). The great standing Buddha, also white, standing in front of the back, is also superb. Between the White Temple, the Black House and the Blue Temple, Chiang Rai is definitely the city of colorful temples!
Karen Long NeckVisiting one of the numerous Karen Long Neck villages in Thailand is one of the most exotic experiences on the planet. The mystery and beauty that sound the tradition of using brass rings for exaggerated jewelry is something better seen in person than in a book. We had ethical questions on if it these hill tribe villages would feel like human zoos, but thankfully we decided to visit anyway. It is a real-life National Geographic Magazine experience to have to see to believe.

Well organized and lots of information. Khun Oy was very knowledgeable and was able to provide us with a lot of information throughout the trip. It was a long day. 13 hours however we did so much and the time past by quickly.

We had a great day, our guide Fearne (not spelt correctly - sorry) looked after us and was very knowledgeable. The highlights were the White Temple and the boat trip through the Golden Triangle.

The tour was great. Lots to see and learn. Our drive really knew how to get around other cars/motorcycles to keep us on schedule. Also, our guide, Matthew was excellent, funny, and very informative. They deserve this 5 star review all day.

We were told by the guide that this was a long trip and it was broken upby a stop at some hot springs before we arrived at the white temple. We then had lunch at a local restaurant which other tour joined us at. There was plenty of food and drinks were a good price . We then went to the blue temple and visited the black house - a collection of housed filled with art and sculptures by a local artist. We then went to the karen tribe and finally a boat trip at the golden triangle. This is a long day but we were only in chiang mai for 3 nights so it was great for us. The journey home is 4 hours so we had read reviews and took our travel pillows and were able to sleep. The tour guide was called happy and although her English was limited she was helpful and made sure a got a vegetarian lunch. If your limited on time thus is a great way to see the temples and karen tribe plus a great boat trip.

Would not recommend this tour. The "temples" have no religious, historical or cultural significance. They, and the Black Museum, are creations of artists with the sole purpose of attracting tourists. The White "Temple" is striking in appearance, but actually kind of disturbing in execution. I wish I had never gone to the "long neck village." I feel like I was contributing to the disfigurement and oppression of women. It is actually a cultural artifact the country should actively seek to END. The "visit" to Laos was foolish. 30 minutes to buy a beer or whiskey with a scorpion in the bottle?? No "value added" in terms of learning anything about the country or people. 14 hours door-to-door. Not a pleasant day. In general, tour drivers in SE Asia (not just this tour) don't have any concept of a "comfortable ride." for their passengers. They are exclusively interested in going fast, passing every chance they get, riding the accelerator and brake and tailgating. Viator should intervene to improve the "car-rider" experience. They should also seek out tour guides with better English language skills. All the guides seem to have reached what they believe is an adequate (minimal) level of language proficiency and simply stopped improving. Their vocabulary is limited and heavy accents often make them very difficult to understand. They certainly speak English much better than I speak their language (i.e., not at all), but their job is to communicate and they really need to continue taking classes to improve. If Viator had a language proficiency rating system that would help. The better guides with stronger skills and higher ratings could receive better compensation. Customer satisfaction could increase and Viator could charge slightly more for a better "tour product." (Think about it Viator!)

La guía de turistas MM es lo mejor!! Muy linda, experiencia única, lo recomiendo mucho, el chofer manejó perfecto, en una carretera que es de muchas curvas, los templos que se visitaron hermosos.

A very epic and remarkable trip. MM was amazing, I can confirm. High energy to keep us going throughout the day. A full day trip is a FULL day trip, so be ready! Plenty of toilet and 7-11 breaks (they are a thing here. Trust me, they’re awesome) and you can sleep in the van, but it is a long day. All the sights were either amazing, or remarkable, or both.
