Hop On Hop Off bus is a great way to see the city, actually whatever city. We did a once around Chicago tour first to see where we wanted to go back. Our narrator, Gretchen, did a great job. During her lunch break, Joanna took over and was fabulous. We took the bus at other times and found each escort providing additional knowledge. One person actually did the driving and narrating at once! Highly recommend this transportation..

Good way to see many areas of the city. Narration by guides vary. Can access a narrative in several languages which is verbal or written. Buses are older.

I do HOHO's all over the world whenever I hit a new city or am introducing a loved one to a new city (even if I already know the city) as this is a great way to sample the major attractions (the stops hardly miss a one) with a great blend of history sprinkled into the live commentary that introduces you to the major relevancies about the city. The tour guides there in Chicago were a very lively bunch and each was very helpful (even shammying off the windows and seats on a off and on rainy afternoon).
Side-note to my fellow-travelers: If it is sunny in Chicago, get on the top of the double-decker buses. If it is rainy, see if you can catch one of the trolley cars. Sitting downstairs in the double-decker buses, you can hardly see a thing whereas the trolleys are what they run most in the winter so they are better designed for an enclosed but viewable scenario.

We only had a day to explore the city and after reading other reviews opted for the bus tour. As a family of 5 we have different preferences but this trip.pleased everyone. Would do it again if we visit in the future. The guides are very knowledgable and humorous.

The tour was hard to find at the locations, and I didn't even get to go on the bus. It was a thunderstorm so I ended up paying for Uber's to go to my locations ..or walking when it was nicer weather later in the day. If you can walk, it'll save you money rather than going on this tour.

I don't know if I will ever do hop-on hop-off again. This is about the 3rd city I've tried them as it sounds like a great idea but in reality its pretty much a waste of time and money. No explanations and if they try the intercom system is useless. They basically drive you past places and you have to be smart enough to know if its someplace you want to explore.

The tour started off quite well but we stopped only minutes in and had to get off our bus to give it to a group of students whose bus had a flat tire. We were told another bus would pick us up in 2 minutes but of course this didn't happen we spent 15 minutes waiting on the side of the road with the others off our bus until it arrived.

No complaints; very organized. The guides were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The stops were very much on time

  • 21-Nov-2018

The tour was the perfect way to see the city, since I only had one full day. Because of the lighting parade the tour cut off short, but it gave me time to see everything.

  • 22-Oct-2018

We chose this trip ahead of the big bus tour. Both similar stops and frequency. This one cheaper.Generally very good. Only 12 stops. It would be useful to get on and off in a different order - otherwise it takes ages to get to some stops.
