Overview

Although the Mayan culture was settled in different archeological zones, Chichen itza is one of the most important and is also considered one of the new seven wonders of the world and Cultural Heritage of Humanity according to UNESCO since 1988.
Chichen itza was the most important religious, political and military Mayan center and had its heyday towards the classic and post-classic period.
This mysterious place is called Chichn Itz which means in the mouth of the well of the itzaes, because it is very close to a sacred Cenote that was considered the door to the underworld.
Chichn Itz is in a very privileged location as it is very close to an endless number of cenotes which gave it an important military and commercial power for many years as it provided water for the community. Mayan culture is all about breathtaking stories where we can imagine this entire wonderful Mayan city that was so imposing.
