Know More about this tour

Your small-group tour begins with hotel pickup in a luxurious Mercedes Benz van, relaxing in one of its plush reclining seats. Travel directly to Chichen Itza, without stopovers along the way so you make the most out of your time. When you arrive at Mayaland Resort, uniquely situated within steps of the archeological park of Chichen Itza, meet your guide to begin your day of exploration.

Follow your knowledgeable guide through Mayaland’s private entrance, skipping the long lines and getting a first-look at the ruins from a unique point of view. Get an introduction to the pre-Columbian Mayan way of life as you step foot inside Chichen Itza, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

During your 2-hour tour of this ancient city, listen as your guide explains the archaeological, historical and cultural significance of its most important temples to your group. Learn about the central area of the classic period and the northern section from the Toltec period.
Stop to admire the Pyramid of Kukulcán, and see the Temple of the Warriors as well as the ball court, observatory and nunnery. When your guide leaves you to experience Chichen Itza at your own pace, make sure to visit the well-preserved smaller temples in the vicinity.
Once you’ve taken your share of pictures, you’re free to use the pools and other facilities at Mayaland Resort, a multiple Condé Nast Traveler magazine winner and considered a National Geographic favorite since 1936. After a lunch buffet that includes a wide selection of international, Mexican and Yucatecan dishes, head back to revisit the temples or simply relax at the resort amid the beautiful and scenic surroundings.

Lay back in a lounge chair or dive into a swimming pool, stroll through the 100-acre tropical botanical gardens brimming with native plants or visit the sacred Xtoloc Cenote, located on the resort grounds (no swimming permitted). Finally, head to Viator's own hospitality suite to relax before heading back to your hotel.

Be Maya Planetarium upgrade option:Before returning to your hotel in the late evening, stop by Be Maya Planetarium, where you'll listen to stories of the ancient Maya civilization and tales of the Maya skies. • This was a long and quite boring day. On the trip to the site 2.5 hours there was one loo stop no chance to get a coffee or anything even to take on the bus. The guide spoke for approximately 20 minutes and then we saw some random adverts about hotels on the TV for a short time. The guide did not explain the process for the day very clearly. On the way back there was no chat from the guide at all, no music nothing on TV. At the site we had to go with another guide called Carlos. He was quite difficult to understand at least another 4 of us felt the same he was not engaging and factually incorrect. He quite quickly lost the interest of the majority of the group but he didnt change his style. The food after the visit was not nice. We ate some salad. We had to watch local dancing for which we were then expected to tip.we then had the choice of being left for another 2.5 hours or to go with the rest of the group to the cenote. We went with the rest of the group paid an additional 160 Mexican dollars to see something we didnt care to see and then wasted an hour or so until the rest of the group were ready to go. The others thought this was a 20 min stop max. These type of tourist trap experiences are exactly why my husband and I prefer to go it alone. We felt viator trips didnt fall into this category but you definitely do in this case. It will make us think twice about using you again. Very disappointing visit. I dont feel this trip was explained clearly enough. I would not recommend to anyone.

  • excellent tour guide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excellent tour very interesting!!!!!

  • This was a very good tour. We were a party of 14 with 8 Jr high and high school kids. The shuttle bus arrived at the hotel on time and took us straight to Chichen Itza. The tour was very good and the sites were amazing. However, there is no place to buy water... We only had a few bottles of water with us and it quickly ran out. The kids were completely dehydrated by noon and we headed for lunch. After lunch, although we had the option to head back into Chichen Itza, we declined and decided to rehydrate and stay cool.
Our guide Tino it was short for a longer name was very knowledgable. Although he was very good at informing us of the Mayan civilization and culture, he started to talk about current U.S. politics... which I didn't appreciate. It would be better for the guides to not talk about their personal views of current world politics and just stick with informing us of the ancient civilization.
Water was offered to us on the bus ride back... but it would have been better if it was offered when we arrived at Chichen Itza.
Chichen Itzá is an experience everyone should have and I highly recommend it... although maybe next time with the swim in the Cenote.

  • Great experience. Faustino was our tour guide, he was excellent and very knowledgeable. This tour package was great. Small tour group lets you ask questions easily.

  • A fantastic tour. Going in a small group was definitely the way to go. Transportation was timely and comfortable. Our guide was great and able to speak in both Spanish and English. His knowledge of the Mayan culture and Chichen Itza added to the enjoyment of the trip. You could see his pride in his culture. Chichen Itza is truly a wonder of the world and a must visit place. Highlight of our trip to Cancun

  • This tour was amazing. The driver made sure we were very well taken care of. I loved it!!

  • Viator was great in arranging a bus pick up from Dreams Puerto Aventuras. The ride was a quick 2 hours with very knowledgeable Carlos. He was kind enough to lend me Pesos because they only accept that for the GoPro admission. No Cenote swim on this. Tacos at the buffet made me ill. Take caution!

  • Nice tour, but we absolutely melted from the heat...remember to bring your own shade, an umbrella perhaps? If you have a choice, don't go in summer.

  • Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Mayan history. It was just amazing

  • Andreas and Faustino picked us up at our Apartment along with 8 other guests from their locations in their very comfortable, air conditioned Van. Faustino was a wealth of knowledge and shared the History of the lands and Communities between Playa Del Carmen and Chichen Itza. They actually took side routes so that we could actually drive through one of the Mayan towns where they reside today. Faustino's knowledge of Chicken Itza was outstanding and his passion for the history heartwarming. We had a wonderful buffet lunch after the tour and enjoyed the wonderful large swimming pool as it was very hot that day. We also had time to go back and buy some gifts before heading back to Playa. This tour was a highlight of our vacation.
