The most sought after destination in Munnar is the Eravikulam National Park, the first of its kind in Kerala, where the endangered Nilgiri Thar is protected. Spread over 97 sq. km., this park holds the largest viable population of Tahr, several other species of rare animals, birds and butterflies. The park offers a magnificent view of the tea plantations and also of the rolling hills caressed by blankets of mist. The park becomes a hot destination when the hill slopes get covered in a carpet of blue, resulting from the flowering of Neelakurinji. Traveler Reviews
-
Very nice hike in the mountains and along the river. Spotted the giant squirrel, deers, rabbits, peacock, woodpecker and many monkeys
-
Great experience wandering with the rangers in Chinnar Park. We took the 3hr trek and it was definitely worth it : observation tower, looking for the wild elephants, deers and buffalos!
-
Our trip is very good, the Jeep driver is also too much genuine, humble and supportive. I m suggested to try once

The iterinary mentioned has a lot of differences with the original. Bamboo and Sandalwood gardens has to be seen from the road side. Muniyara park and caves are not covered. At last chinnar wildlife sanctuary trekking also missed being not reached the place in time. No proper planning. A private Jeep can be hired with much lower cost around RS.2000/- per 5 to 6 people. Eravikulam National Park and Lakkam falls are only good places we have seen. Miserable experience...
