Overview

This tour departs early in the morning from your hotel in Vitoria Falls Zimbabwe to maximize the chances of encountering cats in both the Zambezi and Chobe National Parks. You may have an opportunity to witness the sunset on the Chobe River (seasonal as National Park demands that everyone is off the river at 6:00 pm) and see big cats again in the Zambezi National Park as the tour does not leave the Botswana border until 7:00 pm. Packed breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are included.

Know More about this tour

This is a full-day game viewing safari in the Chobe National Park with a difference. Because you are picked up earlier, this is the choicest time to encounter some of the big cats and nocturnal animals on the 1-hour drive to the border through the Zambezi National Park. You will be at the Chobe National Park`s gate slightly before 6:30am to start the day with half-day game drive in the park. This is the best time to see big cats, as they will still be active and hunting. The drive will continue until your break for lunch about noon.Lunch will be at the Chobe Safari Lodge (served buffet style) and after lunch, you will have some time to relax before the afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River. This is a 3-hour cruise starting in the afternoon and ending about sunset. The cruise affords a chance to encounter many types of birds and other wildlife as they visit the river for a last drink of the day, and of course, the African sunset from your boat on river. You will be at the Zimbabwe border around 7:00pm for the 45 mile (70km) transfer to your Victoria Falls hotel. Again, this is a great time to see the cats of the Zambezi National Park, as they will be out and hunting. You will be back to your hotel around 8:00pm.

We saw a lion and a bunch of other animals. Getting very close to some of them from the boat this felt like an amazing magical experience. Highly recommend. Also, the staff is excellent and very kind

Had a great day with Ledge our main guide, boat driver, spotter and all round great guide. Webster and Owen were great making all the arrangements. Tips: 1. It’s very cold first thing in the morning on the back of an open safari 4WD, so be prepared and rug up. 2. Book with DK direct at their office in Vic Falls. Credit: DK also supports local communities.

It was a LONG day but worth it. I was surprised that we were handed off to different tour operators throughout the day. It sounds like DK Tours does a great job matching up the tour date you want with the people who are available to lead it, and I was really happy to be supporting different (very) small businesses, rather than one big fancy tour operator. I just wish it had been a little more clear up front. Our guides gave us clear instructions to walk through the Zimbabwe-Botswana border, so that experience was incredibly efficient and low stress. We happened to be on the game drive solo and saw tons of big animals at Chobe (including, in a stroke of luck, a leopard!) and many charismatic birds (lilac-breasted roller, kori bustard, and water thick-knee). There were other people on the boat tour, which was really nice--we met people from all over the world. Seeing elephants, crocodiles and hippos close by from the water was really special. I took off one star for the unexpected 1-hr gap after lunchtime, where everyone else went on their boat tour and we were left waiting for ours. We'd eaten, and there was no where to go, so we just had to sit at a (VERY nice) conference center waiting for our pick-up. I'm guessing we just got unlucky with the available timing, but I wish I'd had a heads up.

Smooth pick up from hotel at 5am and transfer at border Ranger could have been a little more engaging but seemed knowledgable and managed to locate a number of species on the game drive An acceptable lunch in nice surroundings River tour commenced from a run down area and boat was old it serviceable. Seen some animals from different viewpoint but overly long Not as professionally presented as some other similar experiences

This trip exceeded our wildest expectations. We hit a bit of bad weather BUT we saw much more than expected and our guides were committed to our having the best time ever . They seemed to enjoy the day as much as we did. This was a memorable day from beginning to end.

Booked this trip through dk tours and safaris, good communication, smooth payment and confirmation. Transfers worked well, and the partner company that had the tour was excellent. Very happy with this tour. The river is a fantastic landscape to just be in, so you are in for a treat. A general advice though, after reading several reviews on safari sites. Before booking: Know what you want to see, and find the tour that enhance the chances of just that. We wanted to see elephants and got a LOT. We didn’t get any lions though, as we probably should’ve started the game drive at early morning to increase the chance of that. But that was a choice we took. Be smart. Read up. And regardless: marvel at the wonder nature is.

The tour was just superb. The guides Webster and Enock in Zimbabwe were just excellent and very dedicated to quality service. In Botswana, the guide Nakula was extremely keen for us to see all animals (incluiding Lions) and the elephants swimming. Just an unforgettable experience!

Chobe NP is awesome! And I was lucky, I managed to see a leopard, which was said to have "no show" for almost two years. Pre-trip communication was very easy and smooth with Webster. We had a 5-hour game drive in the morning, then 3-hour boat trip in the afternoon. The jeep was great. The boat was small (max 8 pax) and "shabbier" than some of the larger ones (20~30 pax, may even have a bar on it) , but it meant more mobility and could get closer to the animals.

Webster was very helpful in organising our stay in that part of Africa. Contact with him was very easy. We used his services for airport transfers, the extended day tour in Chobe, the helicopter flight, the sunset dinner cruise and I can't say any negative word about it. I would maybe only suggest a better boat for the river safari in Chobe. We also did the guided tour of the Falls but we thought that this was probably not necessary and we could have done it on our own. Still, I can't say any bad word about that toir either. Everything was very well organised and Webster showed a lot of flexibility. I can highly recommend DK Tours. He uses reliable partners.

This was one of the best day trips we have done. Webster ,Stanley and Captain Jack are the most welcoming and knowledgeable guides. There isn’t anything to fault about this trip. This is well worth getting up early for. Although it isn’t the 5 star experience of some, the knowledge and humour of the guides can’t be beaten. Lunch included was very good and the ability to have a rest in between the two activities was most welcome. The use of the smaller boat was ideal to access all areas of the river and Jack was extremely patient whilst we took multiple bird pictures. Fantastic day thank you!
