-------------------------------

In Rome Vans are better than Buses: Van = up to 8 seats, Bus = from 9 to 50 seats. Note that Buses are not allow in the historical areas of Rome (official ship excursions from Cruise Companies are operated with Buses). This mean that the Bus will drop you off and you will walk for the entire duration of the tour (6/7 hours) to the other side of town at the end of the tour to be picked up. Best Viators Rome excursions are with private Vans. Bus in Rome has only a small number of authorized spaces dedicated to pickup/dropoff travellers so, usually, during the city tour you had to walk for about 4/6 miles. In a big group chance are that you'll have to wait much longer for people lingering at the sights and stand in line longer for the toilets or at the snack counter. You will also have much less one on one time with your driver and guide or time to ask questions, because you'll have to share them with a lot more people.

Vans and their drivers will be at your complete disposal for the entire duration of the tour and can take you and stop where Buses cannot go, very close to all attractions, you will walk definitely less and see more!

Our fleet is comprised of Mercedes, Volkswagen, Ford, FCA, Sedans, MPVs and Vans. Many Italian cities have restricted the areas where certain vehicles can circulate, so in order to offer you the best service possible and to let you reach your destination as comfortably as possible, we will arrange your vehicle accordingly

Above 8 passengers please make multiple bookings and we will provide the service either with multiple Vans/SUVs, according to our availability and local regulations. The multiple vehicles will make the tour together with the same stops. The Guests can switch as they prefer in the available vehicles

Traveler Reviews

These are things that would have been really helpful when I was reading reviews, preparing and deciding on a shore excursion on Royale Caribeean cruise. If you ask me, DO NOT pay more for the expensive "small group" excursions. My brother and i did the same Rome/Coluseum excursion but mine said small group. He paid $173 and I paid $350+. The description on mine said it went inside the Coluseum and that it included lunch at a "5 star restaurant". His did not so we assumed and expected something more for my extra $180. Nope, he did the exact SAME tour. There was absolutely NO difference in the fact that mine was a "small group". In fact, we kept running into him at every spot. Also, I know it's not important to all but for those that want and like to buy souvenirs because it's your first time in Rome, forget it. For the 10+ hour excursion we were given 15 mins right outside the Basilica and that was it. It would've been helpful if they mentioned there would be NO other opportunity to buy souvenirs. Our guide was HORRIBLE!! She ran through the whole tour like it was a sprint. We didn't even get to take pictures of most things because she was moving so fast. We got left behind a few times because we decided to that a minute to admire things like the Piata by Michaelangelo. The "5 star" restaurant food was awful and my brother ended up at the same restaurant. I hope my post is helpful.

We took the "Civitavecchia Cruise Port Shore Excursion with Full Day Rome with "Skip-the Line" Vatican Museums (including the Sistine Chapel) and Colosseum" tour offered by Viator with "Italy Best Excursions" providing our driver, Govani and our personal Rome guide, Francesco. We had only one day in Rome and knew it more than likely be our one shot deal to visit Rome. In the days time we had we were able to see and do everything on our list and much more. Although our ship offered extra tours to individual locations in Rome, we wanted to do much more....and we did! Many thanks to our driver, Govani, and expert/knowledgable Rome Guide, Francesco, for making our visit to Rome so enjoyable with memories to last a lifetime.

Tour was excellent. Perhaps not for everyone, but a convenient way to see the major sites with a limited amount of time. Our driver Valentino was superb - knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. His recommendation for lunch, delicious and perfect. Ask for him if possible.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating for the things we wanted to see. However, our big complaint is that he took us to the Colosseum one and a half hours before our scheduled time and they would not honor our
