Despite that the islands were absolutely stunning, this was the worst excursion during our holiday in Mexico.
First of all, the drive from Playa del Carmen to Cancun was more than 2 hours, which is normally only 1 hour.
"Unlike many all-inclusive tours that are large, this tour is limited to just 15 people. ", says the excursion explanation. Weird then, that when we arrive at the marina we get dropped on a loud party boat with more than 50 people. It was horrible.
Also the check-in at the marina (were we had to pay a lot of extra taxes) was very chaotic. There were so many people, it was really loud and they gave us no clear directions.
There were mostly spanish speaking people, so the guide came to the few English speaking people a few times to translate things, but he didn't told us as much than the Spanish guide.
The lunch was very unhygienic: the food was already cut 2 hours before and was standing on the boat, uncooled.
Isla Contoy was really pretty, but you spend way to many time over there while you only get one hour on isla Mujeres. Isla Contoy is beautiful but it is just the beach, on isla mujeres you got beach, shops, bars, ... so many things to do but no time for it.
Also my friend is a smoker but she couldn't smoke from boarding in Cancun until we we arrived at Isla Mujeres (because it is forbidden on the boat and isla contoy). Too sad we specially bought biodegradable sunscreen and still got sunburned because even this ons was not allowed. Last thing that the overview says is: "Back aboard your boat, relax and watch the sun set. " which we didn't see because it was too early for a sunset.
So our advise: don't book this trip unless you love overcrowded and loud partyboats.

Great Service and a fun trip but this trip was not as advertised as far as the number of people on the boat. The advertisement says it is intimate and limited to 15 people but we actually were on a large boat with 45-50 people. That being said my wife and I had a great time. Isla Contoy is amazing and the crew was a ton of fun.
