Know More about this tour

We are only 35 minutes from New orleans, yet a world apart. Our New orleans air-boat tour is a high speed adventure that is part tour, part thrill ride. You will travel at high speeds in the 6 or 9 passenger boat, then slow down and stop for photo opportunities. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. Our air-boats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view, and every seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife. Yes, gators will get close, very close. So close, that you will be able to look into those reptilian eyes.

Alligators do hibernate in the colder months, but our experienced captains know where to look for them. On average, during the winter, you'll have better than a 50/50 chance of seeing a "gator". In the warmer months, you will see a gator. Every New orleans air-boat tour is unique and we never know what will be around the next corner. The area toured is a combination of swamp, marsh and lake. So, you may see anything from a Bald Eagle to a pelican to Osprey to an owl. It really is that diverse.

The air-boats are driven by a 454 Chevy Engine that will produce speeds of up to 35 miles an hour. They are propelled by a huge fan that will blow air from the back of the boat in excess of 200 miles an hour. These tours are truly a blast! They ride in inches of water and go where traditional boats cannot go. These boats were designed to take you to inaccessible areas of The swamp, places that you cannot reach by foot or car. It is truly a unique experience.

In combination with the airboat tour, you'll also visit the Oak Alley Plantation, which was built in 1837, with a 1/4 mile path, from River Road to the plantation house, lined with twenty-eight evenly spaced Oaks. There are additional attractions on the grounds which includes a restaurant, cafe and gift shop. The choice is yours how you would like to use your free hour.

I booked the plantation and swamp tour as a combo just to make my life easier. Pick-up and drop-off and all the transition between buses were great. Got picked up and dropped off at the hotel. The plantation tour was great ( no tour guide from the touring company) the tour guide was from the plantation. It’s really breathtaking and if you have a car, drive there yourself. I chose the smaller boat for the swamp tour. It was slightly disappointing. We saw both the swamp and the marsh. I totally understand it was winter and there was not a lot of animal activities to see. The tour guide didn’t bother touring us around much. Instead it was more like from destination A to B and C, and back to the deck. We spent much of the time sitting in a still boat listening to him talking about himself. I’d rather be listening to a YouTube video talking about the swamps than listening to him.

Highly recommend the small boat swamp tour. We did this specific tour & the plantation was fine but the swamp tour was the highlight. The airboat was so unbelievably cool. We had an amazing guide (feel terrible cannot remember his name to recommend) - passionate about conservation & very knowledge about the area. Explained complicated concepts like dredging, drilling, & land erosion in a simple & easy to understand way. It was very cool to see all the different kinds of geography & learned a lot. Also, being blasted all around the area with some spray in your face & seeing bunch gators ain’t that rough a day! Must do in New Orleans. Plantation could give or take - pretty for pictures. If you’re already out and don’t mind spending the time, go for the plantation too.

The home and surroundings are well worth a visit. The tour guide of the home, Jackson, provided us with a link to the past, the family that owned it and more about the people who worked on the land. Don't forget to walk down Oak Alley when the tour of the home is over!

Plantation very pretty. Boat ride awesome. If you can only do one take the airboat. Gorgeous scenery, and see the driver play with a gator.

We had a fantastic experience! It was a lot more time in driving than we were prepared for but that was on us. There was no wasted time on the tour. We got to the swamp tour, got our tickets and got on the water right away. It was a little gray & chilly & drizzly but an amazing experience. I can't remember our Captain's name but he was very good. Thank goodness we got something to eat there because there wasn't food available when we got to the plantation. Loved the plantation grounds and the house tour. I think we were the last tour of the day so most everything was shut down by the time we were done with the tour and it was getting dark. The tour guide was knowledgeable and cared about the home and the history. Our bus driver had lots of information to share and we loved learning more about the area.

Great tour, plenty of exhibits, outdoor replica slave quarters, authentic artifacts. Beautiful grounds. Airboat tour was so much fun, great guide. Small airboat tour really made our trip worthwhile. Definitely make sure you go!!

Our driver out to the plantation, Gary, was so great! Made the ride fun and I really enjoyed hearing his story. He was very knowledgeable. Oak Alley was beautiful and I enjoyed learning the history, good and the bad. The restaurant at oak alley was some of the best food we had on our trip. The weather wasn’t the best for our swamp tour but our guide was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. Eye opening information related to swamp ecosystems and conservation.

Unbelievable tour!! Highly recommend. Oak Alley plantation is absolutely beautiful. The tour of the main house was perfect and just the right amount of time. Nice gift shop and cafe, and definitely try a refreshing mint julep. The airboat tour was the highlight of our trip. Captain Matt navigated the canals and bayou and was so knowledgeable. We definitely saw lots of gators. Five stars because of the small airboat tour, captain Matt, and the tour guide and team at Oak Alley Things that could make it that much better include clear communication. For example; 1. Letting people know that your going to switch buses, we switched buses 4 times! 2. Once on the second bus it was not announced if we were doing the plantation or the swap tour first. 3. Let people know the time you’ll be on the bus going between stops, we stopped for one lady who desperately had to go to the bathroom. 4. Figure out payment from guests at the appropriate time, and don’t hold up the tour doing so. We spent 15min in the parking lot dealing with different people paying for their tours, and refunding people, which held up the next bus that was waiting on the side of the road. 5. On the way back (the last bus) we understood that we would get dropped back off at our hotel. While on canal street the driver yelled out a bunch of hotel names, I confirmed twice that it was our hotel stop and he said yes get off and walk that way. Not ideal for my senior mother, as it was a 10min walk down Bourbon and back to our hotel.
