Inside the trail, among the abundant fauna visitors may witness the 3 toed sloths and see the different species of birds: Toucans, Oropendola, Tanagers, Hummingbirds, kiskidees and much more, squirrels, and the majestic butterflies that swarm through the trail. The creeks which appear during the trail, add a crisp freshness to the air, yet more importantly, enable the reproduction of many of the organisms living there. For example, these creeks create the perfect atmosphere for the various types of frogs you will encounter, allowing the perfect place for egg laying. You will witness the beautiful flora, such as the epfites, orchids, and bromeliads as well as other ground level plants with various sized leaves appearing in their plenty. The different species of trees ranging from young to old, small to large, serve as homes to many of the creatures being large mammals to tiny insects. These trees as you will witness are also adorned by the lianas that hang from the branches.

Viator subbed the tour out to Lucky Tours. The tour guide seemed to be inexperienced and took our group to what they call a rain forest. Since it had rained earlier the gravel path was very slippery and several people were sliding along the path. It was a dangerous experience. Had the tour guide been more familiar with the route, he would have taken us to a different location, as was the case with another group. We would not recommend this tour to anyone.

This tour was just AWFUL! We were taken on a boat and rode through muddy waters to see very few animals. We were told we were going on a nature walk which was supposed to be through a rain forest. It was very dangerous and we were not warned about the dangers. The guide was at the front of our group. Someone behind him could have fallen and gotten hurt or possibly killed and he would not have been there to help. We were holding onto a very unsteady rubber, flexible railing as we walked downhill. We could not look around to see a think as we were looking down the entire time so as not to trip or fall. We had to walk through mud at times. Then it started to rain, making it even more slippery.
The instructions for the tour said NOT to wear sneakers but to dress in smart casual clothing - no jeans. It's a GOOD thing we did not listen to their instructions. Having not worn sneakers would have been a DISASTER! DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR!
I would NEVER recommend Viator to anyone! This was a total waste of money and I am just glad to no one got badly hurt, although one person did fall. -
I swear booking excursions with Viator is the only way to go. They use very professional tour operators - and Eduardo owner of the tour co, Cooper our guide, and Nick our driver provided us with a perfect day in Limon, Costa Rica. We had a walk thru the city park, special stops to see sloths along the road, a fruit stand - I can't stop thinking of that gorgeous, delicious native fruit, a boat trip on Torteguero Canal to see the wildlife, an incredible walk through the rainforest my 88 yo mom-in-law did the trek, too, and loved it, and tremendous views of the beauty of Costa Rica. It's easy to understand why people from all over are wanting to move to this incredibly beautiful country. All along the way, Cooper was with us to explain all that we were seeing, and he has a special knowledge of the plants, flowers, insects, mammals and birds that we encountered - after all, the environmental aspects of Costa Rica are critical to this country. Truly recommend this tour - you will not forget it!
