Vasyl was great. He gave us background and context then examples (positive and negative) of life during the communist era in an entertaining, sincere way and was excellent at answering questions from the group.

We took the free Communist Walking Tour of Sofia with Stefan and were riveted by his anecdotes about life under Socialist rule. Then, the clouds broke and a downpour caused us to take a break and retrieve our umbrellas. When we returned to the designated continuation spot for the last hour of the tour, there were no signs of our group. We haven't forgotten about finding a way to compensate Stefan and/or 365 for his excellent presentation. We'd hoped to stay for the duration and learn more about the NDK complex.

When we turned up for the tour we were worried that there were a lot of people and not many guides. From the outset Martin, our tour guide, was open and honest explaining that there was more people than expected and not enough guides available to cover the group this size. However, from the outset Martin was a superb guide. Although a large group he constantly tried to involve the whole group in the tour. He remembered peoples names and where they were from - something I really appreciated. You could tell that Martin had a passion for history and this period, adding personal family stories that make the topic feel more real. In the end the size of the group didn’t impact the quality of the tour, thanks to Martin’s commitment and enthusiasm to the topic. I was pleased I went on the tour and would 100% recommend it to anyone.

This was a great experience, such a knowledgable guide with very clear communication and some good jokes! Really felt like we got to know the city as a whole, and also to understand the complex relationship Bulgaria has to communism/socialism, and its recent past. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the city.

Excellent tour to deepen our understanding of Bulgarian history. Stefan was our guide. He is very knowledgeable on the Communist years in Bulgaria and has a good sense of what to summarize and what to share more in depth. We left his tour with a greater appreciation of the people and history of this fascinating country. This tour is highly recommended.
