Overview

Connemara could only be described as truly the wilderness of Ireland. Ravaged by a vicious potato famine from 1847-1851, the landscape has been left barren, inhospitable and untouched ever since, with its true and natural beauty still intact.

Connemara has it all: incredible lakes, romantic castles, old stone walls, and isolated and deserted valleys. It is easy to see why The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, and the Guard with Brendan Gleeson, have been filmed here. On this tour you will be introduced to this amazing part of Ireland, as well as the colourful and vibrant Galway city, where you will enjoy a full walking tour of the city, which is the centre of art and culture in Ireland.

  • I would recommend this tour its such a great day our guide was terrific lots of fun and a lot of knowledge he made the day so interesting. There is so much to see and it's all so beautiful

  • Ashford Castle was stunning, but not much time devoted to that long walk, and felt rushed. Galway was a lovely place and you cannot miss the scenic ride along the way with happy cows/sheep, etc. Tour guide was perfect, entertaining and informative.

  • Good tour, but slightly disappointed that the bus had no microphone and no information about the history/area we were visiting. We would have liked more time to explore Cong, and spent less time Galway but well worth the money anyway to get a flavor of Ireland.

  • This tour was awful and did not do the description in the itinerary. For example, the tour was supposed to include a walking tour of Galway, it did not. The driver dropped us off in the main square and told us to meet the bus at the stop in two hours. Do not do this tour.

  • too much riding and too little information about what we were seeing. the village of cong was interesting. enjoyed the impromptu tour by the highway man. too little time in galway. some confusion
about changing buses and spent an hour waiting in the gas station for the 2nd bus to show up to take us to dublin.

  • Enjoyed the scenery but spent more time on the bus than expected. Winding roads - request to sit in the front of the bus if you are prone to car sickness.

  • Beautiful scenery, but the weather was cold and rainy...no ones fault, but it made it a little difficult to enjoy a tour that involved being outside most of the time. We did enjoy the village of Cong despite everything being closed as it was not yet tourist season. The time in Galway was enjoyable and my wife and daughter enjoyed shopping there.

  • Our tour guide was a riot! He kept us entertained with songs of all kinds from local lore. Although the flooding was a bit much in the village of Cong where the Quiet Man was filmed and we were unable to get into Ashford Castle, we got to see much of the gorgeous countryside and shop for a while in Galway. It's a long tour but worth the money we paid. :

  • Galway is a beautiful town
