Know More about this tour

Departing Merchant's Road in central Galway at 9:30 daily, this tour travels west along the Coast of Galway Bay. You leave Galway city behind and head out through the Claddagh and Salthill areas of Galway before turning left and along the southern shore of Connemara.

The tour passes through the picturesque villages of Barna, Furbo, Spiddal and Inverin before turning inland to cross the haunting Connemara landscape.

The tour then stops at the summer residence of Padraic Pearse. Padraic Pearse was one of the leaders of Irish Nationalism and a signatory to the Proclamation of Irish Independence, read out by him outside the GPO in Dublin during the Easter Rising 1916. This restored cottage overlooks the breathtaking rural vistas of Rosmuc, (entry fee not included).

Then you travel through the tranquil, wilderness bog landscape of Bothar na Scragoige before stopping for a photostop in the beautiful fishing village of Roundstone.

Leaving Roundstone you travel travel along the real Wild Atlantic Way territory, along here you have the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean on your left and the barren Connemara landscape to your right. You get to witness exactly what the Wild Atlantic Way is all about, keep an eye out for the local Connemara Ponies as you head for Derrygimlagh Bog. This remote corner of Connemara was central to connecting the whole of Europe to America in the early 20th century and is one of the 'signature points' of the Wild Atlantic Way. Travelling through Clifden, the capital of Connemara, you head skyward towards the Sky Road. The views and photo opportunities from this 'discovery point' on the Wild Atlantic Way have to be seen to be believed.

Next you have a choice: Either a 2-hour stop to explore and walk the Connemara National Park, or a 2-hour stop at the magical 19th century Kylemore Abbey (entry fee not included).

To finish off the tour you weave your way between the majestic Twelve Bens and Maamturk mountains through the Inagh Valley and onto the main Galway to Clifden road where you will visit the famous 'Quite Man' bridge before returning to Galway city.

  • it was beautiful. the guide was well informed. Only thing keeping the trip from 5 stars was the waiting time after we were picked up at out BnB.

  • It was a perfect tour, thank you to the bus driver !

  • It was a perfect tour ! Thank you to the bus driver !

  • Most of us visited Connemara National Park while a few of us went to Kylemore Abbey. We were given the opportunity to hike up to the summit of Diamond Hill. Not a very steep climb nor muddy but wet in some places. For those who went to Connemara, they did have the opportunity to see Kylemore Abbey for a photo stop. I have done Kylemore Abbey before but never the national park.

  • It is the perfect excursion if you don't want to rush and have a day in the nature. There are several stops in fisher villages and interesting places with very nice views. After this you can spend a couple of hours in Connemara National Park which is enough for a nice walk up to the peak.
The guide guy was very quiet and gave us nice advises and good history review.

  • The landscape you see on this tour is stunning, I would highly recommend. I would have liked a few more places to stop but I understand we were on a time schedule so just keep that in mind. Our driver was very pleasant and did a good job. Kylemore Abbey is under going some renovations so you won't get a perfect picture but it's still beautiful.

  • Great tour and our guide was very nice, knowledgeable and informative about the the history and the area. Beautiful scenery and he even showed us where and how peat was obtained! We got to see the crazy sheep and lots of ponies. The Abby was beautiful but be aware the outside is under restoration so half is covered in scaffolding but still a very beautiful place. The country side was beautifu!!! Well worth the trip and it was nice not to have to drive and just observe the scenery.

  • What a beautiful part of the world! This was a wonderful tour captained by a charming and friendly tour guide.

  • Amazing Tour with our guide Damian ! The funny comments and information made the tour really interesting and the time in the bus went faster than we sought it would :

  • This tour was wonderful. The mood of the day was set by our fun, friendly and informative driver Pat Fahey. There were only a few of us so the bus was small and it was a more personal experience for everyone. I've been to Connemara previously and taken other tours. However, I was traveling with a niece who was a first-time visitor to Ireland and booked this company. I'm very pleased I did and would definitely recommend this tour company. All stops were well planned including stops for photo-ops, to shop and to have an Irish coffee!. We saw much of Connemara with frequent explanations about its history, political figures, customs, charming towns, and gorgeous countryside. The stop at Kylemore Abbey was a bonus! The bus was clean and comfortable, the price was extremely reasonable, and the overall experience was excellent!
