Know More about this tour

Meet your guide near Palazzo Vecchio in central Florence and take a 30-minute walk to Mercato Centrale, a historical food market in the San Lorenzo area, to see where the locals shop. En route, stop by a local bakery for some tastings and to buy fresh bread. Then follow your friendly guide around the market stalls, and meet butchers and farmers selling vegetables from their fields in Tuscany.
The market teems with fresh fruit and quality local produce including cheese, cured meat, balsamic vinegar, sun-dried tomatoes, olives and many other Italian specialties. Select some of the finest ingredients to use later in your cooking class, and enjoy samples of some of the food and wine.

Hop aboard your minibus and travel to a farmhouse, tucked away in the Tuscan hills, where your cooking class takes place. Don your apron, which you can keep as a souvenir, and help your chef prepare a full Tuscan meal, starting with a selection of appetizers. Learn how to make proper Italian pasta using freshly laid eggs, and discover the secrets behind traditional meat sauces, using ingredients from right outside the door!

A pasta dish, pizza and classic bruschetta are all on the menu, so help your chef prepare them with fresh bread, tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil each produced on site. When the dishes are ready, take a break to eat and enjoy your creations with a glass of the regions full-bodied Chianti wine.

Then, head back to the kitchen to prepare traditional Tuscan arista (succulent roast pork) with roast potatoes, seasoned with fresh herbs from the farm. As the pork cooks, prepare a classic tiramisu, layering delicately flavored mascarpone with liquor- and coffee-soaked sponge biscuits, and learn about strong and rich Italian coffee.
The highlight of your tour comes next: sitting down to eat your 4-course meal! Savor your main course and desserts along with a carefully selected Tuscan wine while chatting to your chef and fellow lovers about your day of food.

Then, return to your minibus and relax on the journey to the start point in Florence where your tour finishes.

  • SUPER fun day. Loved it. I highly recommend it.

  • From start to finish this was the best cooking class experience I have had. Our chef/guide Isaac was great taking us through the central market where he was known to every vendor, and the farmhouse was beautiful. He and Carmela included everyone in the cooking lessons and we enjoyed a great meal!

  • This was just what I'd wanted ! More a 'Meet and greet with a side of food preparation taught to us by a fantastic Chef/guide Issac along with Carmela, and two Italian guys teaching us prepping and cooking Pizza ! Started with us meeting at the St. Novella Train Station, walked to a fantastic local Market to get our ingredients and then a relaxing Bus ride to the Farm House a few Kilometers out of Florence. I never knew just how easy and fun it is to make Pasta and Tiramisu from scratch. For me being somewhat an introvert, the atmosphere is so relaxing, so fun might be the 2-4 glasses of Chianti meeting people from all across the world. This is what people mean by having a vacation 'experience in every way. Take a day off from being a tourist and learn Italian cooking in a fun way, have some Wine,Coffee, and darn good food that most of which you made and get to know people from all over the globe. A fun thing for couples and for the loner ME !! to do. I wish I was better at writing a review, but bottom line, you will love doing this !! Why, when I return to Florence, I see a refresher course in my future !! A special 'Hello' to the Aussie couple . Was great to meet you two !!

  • The food, location, and instructors were all absolutely perfect!

  • This was well worth spending a day of our Florence trip. The market tour prior to the class was terrific--wish we could have had a little free time to spend there, and it gave us time to visit a part of the city I wouldn't have seen otherwise! The class itself was fantastic! Isak and Marcella are a great team and the Pizza guys did an wonderful job while entertaining all of us. We learned some excellent techniques, had a meal that lasted all afternoon, and everyone agreed in our group that this was one of the highlights of our trip!

  • This was the highlight of our trip to Florence! My husband and I left eager to try some of these techniques on our own but more than that, it was just fun. All of the staff were so very pleasant, organized, eager - very well put-together program! And the setting was pretty amazing as well - down to the huge black-and-white, teddy-bear-of-a-dog mascot. I would recommend this in a heartbeat, for the food, the view, the education, and the camaraderie!

  • We have taken a number of Viator city tours and have always been pleased, but the cooking class and market tour was something really different for us...and it was fantastic choice!!! The event started with a tour of a market where we purchased fresh ingredients and where our chef and guide Issac explained what ingredients to buy and why as he showed us the sights. Then we boarded a bus to a beautiful Tuscan venue set on a hill above Florence. The modern kitchen and dining facility was modern and well equipped, and it was located in a beautiful Tuscan farm. We quickly met our fellow classmates and bonded as a group of foodies as we learn Ed how to prepare and cook some basic Italian dishes from Issac and his Italian speaking chef cohort Carmella. We were concerned about being in a group setting for a number of hours, but market tour and class our most memorable event and a highlight of our time in Florence. We received a follow up email about a week after our event with all the recipes that we worked on together. We give the tour, Issac and Carmella five stars! Our only negative comment is that it was a little challenging hearing Issac over the headphones as we maneuvered through the market, but we all adjusted...and the market tour was well worth the effort.

  • We really enjoyed our class and the relaxation and fun it provided! Isak and Carmela were a dynamic duo and the pace of the day was just what we were looking for. It was fun to learn new recipes but we never felt stressed or pressed to do anything at an uncomfortable pace. The views were amazing from the farmhouse as well! Every dish we ate was delicious and the Chianti Classico was great too. I highly recommend this experience!

  • What a great day. Market shopping, beautiful site just outside of Florence. Interesting guides and instructors. Happy atmosphere. Learned to make pizza, bruschetta, pasta, ragu sauce, and tiramisu. No better way to spend the day.

  • The cooking class is awesome with passionate instructors including cemela and istak! They all taught with patience and are humorous! We made toast, pasta, pizza, roasted pork and tiramisu together.

The cooking studio is cozy with modern equipment. Teachers also had an excellent time management.
