Know More about this tour

The class will start with a visit to the Central Market in Florence, where you will enjoy the folkloristic atmosphere of the Florentine food market and do some great grocery shopping thanks to the tips and guidance of the chef, who will escort you.

Once you've gotten everything you need, you will move to the unique location where the class will take place, in the heart of Florence. During your 4-hour lesson, you will prepare a full Italian meal, from appetizer to dessert. You will first learn how to prepare all the needed ingredients by washing and cutting them, as the treatment of the raw materials is essential in cooking. You will learn how to make fresh pasta from scratch, and you will have the chance to knead it yourself with your own hands, so prepare for some action. You will also cook the sauce for it (Tomato, Ragù Bolognese or Pesto), make ‘bruschetta’ as a starter, craft a main course (seafood or meat) with a side dish, and finish with a dessert. Your chef will show you how to decorate your plate and you will finally have lunch with the amazing dishes you made.

Lunch will be accompanied by a local wine, water, or soft drink as you prefer. At the end of the class, you will also get a Graduation Certificate signed by the chef, as well as the recipes for the dishes you made so you might try them again at home.

  • The Market was closed on Sunday. The class was awesome! The chef was funny, patient and taught us a great deal. Would definitely do this one again!

  • Very fun experience. We made an amazing meal, and brought the recipes back with us so we can recreate these delicious dishes!

  • So enjoyable to go to the market first in Florence and buy all the ingredients for the cooking lesson -- and also see such nice oils, balsamic, and cheeses. Chef Julio was very good and entertaining. The directions to get to the tour start were a bit confusing.

  • This is a great class for anyone who has never cooked anything as it will give information on the differences in Italian recipes and why certain vegetables are added to cut acidity in a sauce, etc. There aren't really opportunities to do hands on cooking, more just watching and listening. The market tour was quite long and disconnected from what we actually cooked versus buying the ingredients we would need. We learned about truffles, were told there was a small discount if we bought must be an affiliate situation introduced to a leather store if we needed to buy leather, must be another affiliate and then taken back to the restaurant. The food turned out delicious, but it's quite long to sit and listen to someone talk. Definitely not the right situation for children since they wont be doing much. Julio was very kind and I'm sure doing as he's been instructed to do. Really, he was so kind, but I know I read reviews and expected something different, so I just wanted to be sure to leave a full picture.

  • We really enjoyed our cooking lesson. The chef did a great job explaining everything to us while taking us from stall to stall where we tasted truffles, and oils. We had a great time making the tiramisu, sauce, and the fresh noodles. When lunch was served it fantastic! The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is that we were told we would get the recipes, but still haven't gotten them.

  • The chef, Antonio, was very nice and shared his insights. The souls chef was also enthusiastic, helpful and informative. Our entire family of 7 enjoyed the class.

  • Great experience for our family with daughters ages 12 and 15. The chef was very knowledgeable and made the experience both fun and educational.

  • Julio and his colleagues at the market were excellent. especially appreciated was his quick pivot to accommodate a gluten-intolerant participant. Highly recommended.

  • Worst tour ever!

18 people, 3 pasta machines, 1 cutting board

I don't think I need to point out that there was a lot more watching than cooking.... One volunteer got to chop, we all had a chance to stir the Tiramisu once or twice and then the chef passed the whisk around for everybody to stick their finger on it to taste the batter - well after I saw the lady across from me sneeze into her hand there was no way I was going to taste it. Then the chef tells the last person in the circle they get to lick the whisk - after everybody has touched it - gross!!!!!

This was like a puppy mill - how many people can we cram into the class?? One gentleman didn't have a chair at the table. It was so bad that my party of 3 walked out of the class - after I paid 200 for 3 people, I didn't even care at that point, I just wanted out of this train wreck.

Did I mention they started the Cooking Lesson 25 minutes late? Were they waiting for MORE stragglers to come in and increase the class size even more??? The people in the tour office at check-in were rude. Once the market tour was over you walk to a room with a large marble table at the back of a restaurant and this is where the lesson is held. You have to wait another 10 minutes for the chef that took you on the market tour to change his clothes into a chef coat - WHY?? he could have just put on a plastic apron like the rest of us. Then within the first 20 minutes he brings his daughter out to introduce to the class - she was around 2 years old - why?????

I read all the reviews of this class before booking and can't understand why anybody would give it 5 stars - they must have never taken a real Italian cooking class.

Completely disappointed - I wish I could get my money back - this may sour me from using Viator again in the future.

  • This cooking class was a wonderful introduction to the Florence market. Our chef and guide gave an informative history of Italian cuisine. The cooking class was fun and our end result was simple delicious!
