Know More about this tour

The class will start with a visit to the Central Market in Florence, where you will enjoy the folkloristic atmosphere of the Florentine food market and do some great grocery shopping thanks to the tips and guidance of the chef, who will escort you.

Once you've gotten everything you need, you will move to the unique location where the class will take place, in the heart of Florence. During your 4-hour lesson, you will prepare a full Italian meal, from appetizer to dessert. You will first learn how to prepare all the needed ingredients by washing and cutting them, as the treatment of the raw materials is essential in cooking. You will learn how to make fresh pasta from scratch, and you will have the chance to knead it yourself with your own hands, so prepare for some action. You will also cook the sauce for it (Tomato, Ragù Bolognese or Pesto), make ‘bruschetta’ as a starter, craft a main course (seafood or meat) with a side dish, and finish with a dessert. Your chef will show you how to decorate your plate and you will finally have lunch with the amazing dishes you made.

Lunch will be accompanied by a local wine, water, or soft drink as you prefer. At the end of the class, you will also get a Graduation Certificate signed by the chef, as well as the recipes for the dishes you made so you might try them again at home.

  • The chef, Antonio, was very nice and shared his insights. The souls chef was also enthusiastic, helpful and informative. Our entire family of 7 enjoyed the class.

  • Great experience for our family with daughters ages 12 and 15. The chef was very knowledgeable and made the experience both fun and educational.

  • Julio and his colleagues at the market were excellent. especially appreciated was his quick pivot to accommodate a gluten-intolerant participant. Highly recommended.

  • Worst tour ever!

18 people, 3 pasta machines, 1 cutting board

I don't think I need to point out that there was a lot more watching than cooking.... One volunteer got to chop, we all had a chance to stir the Tiramisu once or twice and then the chef passed the whisk around for everybody to stick their finger on it to taste the batter - well after I saw the lady across from me sneeze into her hand there was no way I was going to taste it. Then the chef tells the last person in the circle they get to lick the whisk - after everybody has touched it - gross!!!!!

This was like a puppy mill - how many people can we cram into the class?? One gentleman didn't have a chair at the table. It was so bad that my party of 3 walked out of the class - after I paid 200 for 3 people, I didn't even care at that point, I just wanted out of this train wreck.

Did I mention they started the Cooking Lesson 25 minutes late? Were they waiting for MORE stragglers to come in and increase the class size even more??? The people in the tour office at check-in were rude. Once the market tour was over you walk to a room with a large marble table at the back of a restaurant and this is where the lesson is held. You have to wait another 10 minutes for the chef that took you on the market tour to change his clothes into a chef coat - WHY?? he could have just put on a plastic apron like the rest of us. Then within the first 20 minutes he brings his daughter out to introduce to the class - she was around 2 years old - why?????

I read all the reviews of this class before booking and can't understand why anybody would give it 5 stars - they must have never taken a real Italian cooking class.

Completely disappointed - I wish I could get my money back - this may sour me from using Viator again in the future.

  • This cooking class was a wonderful introduction to the Florence market. Our chef and guide gave an informative history of Italian cuisine. The cooking class was fun and our end result was simple delicious!

  • This was the highlight of out trip ! Julio the chef was amazing. We started with trip to central Market, where we had several tastings and bought the meat and other ingredients for the meal. Then off to the kitchen where we prepared an amazing meal...we made tiramisu, which is one of the best I have ever had...the ragú and then the pasta from scratch....bruschetta....and then enjoyed the fruits of our labor...Julio was exetremely engaging, professional and made the experience even better. Thank you so much !

  • The visit to the market was short and loud and we only ended up buying the ground meat for the ragu. It was a waste of time. The cooking class would and #39;ve been better if we all had stations to cook. Also the description said there was a meat course but there wasn and #39;t one - false advertising.

  • It was a great experience in the sense that Andreas gave us loads of tips and tricks for cooking. He was very thorough on the techniques for choppping, slicing, seasoning and cooking time. We really liked that. The only part that let us down was that we did not have any tour in the local market and therefore the cooking class was much shorter than the one advertised. So, make sure yo do have your trip to the market as it says in the description. Also, we have not received the recipes as promised either. And I can see other people having the same problem in getting them. And to finish it off, please change the advertising photo. Very misleading as the place and the scene in the picture is very far from the truth. No a bad truth, but nothing like the photo.

  • I would like to leave a review....
But I would also like Viator to complete the work promised: I have still not received the recipes promised at the cooking class after requesting it 3 times.

  • Great experience! We especially enjoyed making pasta--we may have to get a pasta machine when we get home. Good way to spend part of a day in Floorence.
